There's nothing absurd about it, it's to protect you and the general public. It's not what the media are hyping it up to be at all. If you have more than 2 severe hypos in a year that require help from another person then you shouldn't be driving anyway. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Yes...

Driving is always a very sensitive subject for Diabetics but I think this change is causing unnecessary worry amongst the community! If you have two disabling hypos requiring assistance in the space of 12 months then perhaps it is the most sensible thing for everyone involved (yourself and other...

    newly diagnosed first illness

What I've found helps massively is to go by 10g carbs = 1 unit of novorapid. I'm on levemir, too. I do 15 units of levemir in a morning and then the same at night and have a 1 unit of novo to 10g carbs ratio and it balances me great. I've been diagnosed 5 years.

    Test strips

I've just read a very heated thread regarding test strips on this forum. Whilst no opinions are being cast about that particular thread, it did get me thinking, is there resentment toward Type 1's who get test strips prescribed from Type 2's who don't? I'm not declaring that this is right, so...

    I am not Obese

I also find you very offensive in that you try to belittle someone because of an opinion. I'm not against Type 2's like some people on here, I would have thought if you had the common sense that you mention you would see that.

    I am not Obese

I have been listening Patch. What I'm saying is that not all Type 2's will be Diabetic BECAUSE of lifestyle, some possibly will. Who's to say that those who are categorised as having Type 2 because of lifestyle don't have the oxyntomodulin deficiancy that I mentioned in my earlier post. Who...

    I am not Obese

I don't think there is a sympathy vote "strictly reserved for Type 1's" ... It's not right to blame a person for their Type 2 Diabetes, but it's also not right to assume that someone with Type 1 is nourished with sympathy. We all face the same hardship's in terms of complications and it's...

    I am not Obese

I have found this thread really interesting to read. I've recently been on a DAFNE course and had a very interesting conversation with one of the nurses. She told us about a new injection treatment for obese people that effectively prevents overeating. What was more curious to me was that a lot...

    Questions for Type 1 Mummies!

Hello all, my partner and I have decided to try for a baby, just wanted to know some experiences of Type 1 Mother's that I can or cannot look forward to! I had a very early miscarriage a few weeks ago, I'm trying to put it down to bad luck rather than Diabetes but had wondered if anyone else had...

Any type1 diabetic drummers in here?

One of my friends is a type 1 drummer in a band, he generally tends to let his sugars run a little high before the gig and keeps some lucozade next to the set and has a few sips in song breaks if he feels his bm's are coming down too much. I guess it depends on your hypo awareness as to how...
