Diagnosed T2 in sept 2013, BS levels around 30. BMI 22, age 58. prescribed Metformin and Gliclazide. Went on a low carb diet. Requested a GAD test (because I felt I was not a typical T2, after reading lots on this forum) came back very high 2,000+, doc said I was T1 and would be on insulin within weeks.
Jan 2016;- Been following Dr Bernstein's solution of 'normal' BG levels for over 18 months now.. Over this time my BG meter readings have seen no real upward change (around 5 fasting, under 6 2hr after eating) indicating that my beta cell degeneration has slowed right down and almost stopped. Still without insulin or meds, thanks to LcHf diet.
Sept 2016. Started to see a slight upward trend of my BG levels so started taking insulin, about 8 units per day. increasing to 10 units per day, march 2017.
Feb 2018. Now taking around 15 units of novorapid per day (eg. between 5 and 7 units prior each meal). Hba1c has risen slightly and is now 5.7 / 39. Still following Dr Bernstein.
Dec 2019. Sill taking around 15 units of Novorapid per day. Hba1c is now 37 (5.5%). Still following Dr Bernstein solution.
Feb 2021. Now on 5 units Levemir morning and night and a little less Novorapid. With the help of Abbot Libre latest Hba1c is 5.2% (33). Still following Dr Bernstein’s solution.Interact
