I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 last year, initially it was controlled well with diet , I was using low carb and no added sugar, but this year I have been told I need to take metformin . I started last month and take i twice a day. I have had no noticeable side effects but the pharmacist told me the most common reported side effect is weight gain but I have never seen that listed as a side effect.
