    Diet and exercise control

I'm T1 using insulin but find with between 2 to 4 hours activity per day whilst at work my levels come down to 5's instead of 8's I would imagine with daily intense exercise and proportionate amount of low GI carbs the effects should be noticeable same day / next day.

To inject or not inject??..That is the question?

I'm surprised you've been left in any doubt by the professionals. On diagnosis I was advised to check for Ketones if over 13 for two readings, to avoid ketoacidosis and being readmitted to hospital.

    Switching basal from lantus...

This is why I changed to Levemir from Lantus, a couple of people on my Dafne course have also done the same. My DSN started me on less than half of my Lantus twice a day so find out if/when they prescribe the new insulin.

    Blood sugar levels slightly raised

How are your activity levels? I find the more active I have been the faster the absorbtion of insulin. After a week off work it can be very sluggish. A 9 would give me a cracking headache which I would have to do something about.

    bananas

But what was your BG when you ate the banana? I have a banana with an hours walking, BG usually remain unchanged! If you hada nice and low BG when you ate the banana, perhaps you had too much for you and maybe you could get away with half a really ripe banana instead.

    Lancet challenges!!

Found it only became easier when I became relaxed about it and my hand was less tense. Having also experimented with several different lancers to find the best for me. I threw the lancer with the Codefree out, it wasn't even worth keeping as a spare. Definitely recommend testing a few others...
