    Novorapid pens

Hi Ticker7 Thank you for your post. It was not a mechanical failure with the pen. I use prefilled pens which are dispensed intact whereas I only have to attach disposable needles. The problem was with the actual insulin solution contained in the pens. I spoke to my Diabetic Nurse and all I...

    Novorapid pens

Thank you for your replies - yes I've done all these things. Today I received an email asking me to send the pen to - would you believe it Novo Nordisk, the manufacturers so they can analyse it. I've told them I'll happily have it analysed by a non-biased Lab in the UK, but certainly not by...

    Novorapid pens

Spoke to diabetic pal in America and her doctor also managed to covince her that she was imagining the pen she was using contained a fluid wich was not insulin. Not NovoRapid but made by the same company. I've tried to get my box tested, but it seems nobody wants to do this. Spoke to many...

    Carbs & Cals

Just found the above book on Amazon under £9.00 with free postage. This could save your lives. My friend also recommended an American publication also obtainable from Amazon called Sugar Busters which I'm told is amazing. Keep healthy and a Merry and Healthy Christmas to you all. NattyG...

    House Burned Down During Hypo!

I know your post is an old one, but there are some people like me who can go hypo at levels much higher than the Doctor's realise. I was sent to a Child Psychologist when it first started, but now because I do BM tests, I know symptoms start at 16 mmol/l way way above anything anyone has ever...

Diabetic kids on a low carb diet?

When I was diagnosed T1 at 6 years of age for 5 years I and my parents were told I could eat anything because it is impossible to control a child's diet. They gave me an amount of insulin and I had to balance that insulin with food. My parents never believed that when in hospital I was given...

    Carbs & Cals

Do you want to understand Carbs and Cals? Well I received an advert through Diabetes UK re: the above book and I would advise anybody wanting help to understand the level of sugar in foods they eat, to buy this book. It is £12.99 but I'm sure it will be worth every penny, because we all need...

What can I take to relieve my cough

Always been prescribed Pavacol D which is a sugar-free linctus but also have a lot of faith in tincture of echinacia which I buy at Health Food shops. I add this to drinks and it strenthens your immune system. Today another Chemist gave me another preparation, which is also sugar-free so go...

    Surgical Spirit

When I was diagnosed T1 60 yrs ago, Surgical Spirit was used for everything. Never did me any harm and cured so many things. For some its frowned on today, but so is Dettol and Bleach, hence the infections in Hospitals. You go ahead. It can only do good. Good luck. :D

Shaftesbury House, Diabetic Hostel, Rustington, Sussex

Thank you so much for the two posts I have so far received, and the website address, which I've just clicked into, but havn't yet read. I presume the Archives will be under Church of England Childrens Society Archives? I'm actually in tears of happiness to recall my time spent there, because...

    Diabetes does kill

Of course uncontrolled diabetes can kill but unfortunately nobody seems to blame his drinking plus diabetes as the real demon here. Men can be so stupid where alcohol is concerned. I'm sure you tried your utmost to stop his Christmas session, but unfortunately I hate Christmas cos all this...

help urgent advice ambulance or not

All hospitals have PAL's Departments. Ring the hospital concerned, speak to a PAL's representative and ask who you should complain too. If they do not contact you, I would go to the Citizens Advice and ask for a Solicitor who specialises in negligence cases. If you are low on funds, you will...
