Open University course >>> Diabetes Care >>> SK120

Thanks Sterling for posting...I really like the look of the course. Reason why I asked how many hours is because I am pregnant with baby due end July/beg Aug. I will leave work beg May and really like the idea of getting into something 'educational' whilst I am sitting at home...the course looks...

SUGGESTIONS FOR A LOW GI BREAKFAST FOR PREGNANT TYPE 1

Hi all I would just like to clarify that I am aware of the difference in low GI and low carb, I am not wanting to reduce my carb intake at the moment, though if this helps at breakfast and I can still get my calories and feel full then why not. I am looking for a low GI option in order to try...

Hi Jessie Thanks for the suggestions....I forgot to mention that I currently work in Kuwait in the Middle East, all of these alternative breads that i read so much of are not available here! I will have a look for Lizis granola though. I do like the cheese idea, but I would have to get a low...

SUGGESTIONS FOR A LOW GI BREAKFAST FOR PREGNANT TYPE 1

Hi all I am looking for any ideas for a low GI breakfast that has worked for you and avoided those after meal spikes. Currently 20 weeks pregnant, I have been managing breakfast relatively well so far by just eating weetabix and milk (deemed the best so far after trying lots of other cereals)...

    pre conception targets

Hi weezer Yes, it seems us type 1s are pre-disposed to everything, pre-eclampsia being one of them. I will do some more research regarding the aspirin. I have my big scan on the 31st march, can't wait to have it and hope it brings me some reassurance. At 20 weeks I am feeling good, got my...

Any previously pregnant T1s insulin NOT increasing

Hi weezer Yes it would be great not to feed the insulin, but I am failing miserably. Like you say, it's a physiological thing, I can deal with correcting lows and having the hypos and I test 15+ times a day to catch them before they get too low....but I can't deal with highs, I over correct...

Any previously pregnant T1s insulin NOT increasing

@ Lucie thanks for your reply. Its interesting what you say about your insulin not increasing until after 20 weeks. I am just 20 weeks today and last night my usual basal didnt keep me within range, bolus wasnt shifting it so I am wondering if this is the beginning of insulin...

Any previously pregnant T1s insulin NOT increasing

Hi All This is a question to any T1 previously pregnant. I am currently in my 18th week of pregnancy, last HBA1C 6, blood sugars doing okay but do tend to be a bit erratic as expected and still suffer a lot of hypos (though managable). I can have some days where bloods are excellent, other...
