I have type 2 diabetes and I take 50 units 2x aday of insulin and 850 metaformin 3x aday I also have tables for high blood pressure and some for high cholestral.i have just had a diabetes check up and was told my white blood cells are high and I don't know what this means. I was on victoser injection but it made me so ill. but now they are going to start me on victoser slow release I have to do one injection a week but carrying on with insulin and metiformin

Hello and welcome to the forum,

A high white blood cell count is a marker for inflammation somewhere in the body. If it is higher than desirable as opposed to a little bit raised, maybe you should speak to your GP and see if further tests are necessary.

Hi there and welcome I haven't been on here to long myself but must say when I have had concerns this forum is invaluable , so ask away someone nice will come along and help you, I'm no medical expert but always thought white cells fight infection so if they are high there is an infection somewhere, I'm sure your doc will sort it

Hi Pauline , I am type 2 and my white blood cells have always been really high which suggest my body is fighting some infection however it's not, I have spoke to many GPs and specialist and none of them have given me an explanation . This has been the same now for fifteen years so I am sure you have nothing to worry about its worth getting checked out but you may not get any answers.
