canaglifuzin.

I have been prescribed canaglifuzin. This obviously increases the amount of sugar in one's urine. In turn, this raises the likelihood of urine infections, but also is likely to lead to a reduction in weight. Does anyone know how this balances out? For example, I feel that one urine infection for the loss of two stones would be quite acceptable, but the loss of half a stone whilst experiencing six urine infections wouldn't be worth it. Is anyone able to offer advice based on personal experience?

I was prescribed canagliflozin just over a month ago. I did have one bout of thrush after the first week on it but nothing since, and had lost half a stone in the first month. I don't weigh at home but fully expect to have lost more when I have my next nurse appointment at the end of November. And so far no more symptoms of thrush or u.t.i.

Hi. I was been on this tablet for some months now. No thrush or water infection. Not much weight loss but I keep falling off lchf diet due to money restraints. Christmas presents taking presidence now.
I am losing weight but painfully slow. I guess that's the best way.
I was prone to thrush but so far so good. Bgs middle range but would prefer lower. I'm watching my insulin intake too.
I've read that in England the specialist can only prescribe this drug with insulin whereas in scotland without. I take 100mg but I know there is a 300mg on the market.
I'm not sure to what extent the tablet is lowering my sugar since insulin is involved. I have been able to reduce my insulin but I am still following my lchf diet which reduces bgs too.
I'm guessing my better bgs are more due to insulin and diet rather than this tablet.
We'll see what specialist says mid January. Who is going to give me a diet tablet then too.

I have recently started on this and stopped taking Victoza. Main side-effect is thirst/frequent weeing lol. I get a bit of craving for sugary drinks.

No cravings for me ...so far. However I've always preferred diet lemonade to water.
