I've been on reduced carbs for around 12 months and just got my 1st hba1c since going to Dexcom/xDrip/NS/Pebble around 4 months ago.
With all the work I've been putting in, I thought I deserve to brag a little.
I got a 43 year PB of 31 (5%), less hypos, less spikes. Trigs down, LDL down, HDL up, total chol down, all good :)

I had my first one since diagnosis recently and it was 6% which I believe is 42(ish). I'm quite happy with it but my endo wants 6.5%...

My first HbA1c after starting insulin 3 months ago, it was 6.5. The specialist said that was great. I was disappointed though, because I thought (obviously naively) that it might have been nearer to 'normal' .

That's still pretty good, if you keep it sub 6.5 you'll do fine in the longterm.

HbA1c = glycated hemoglobin, right?
Normal Values: 4.5 - 5.7 %
Prediabetes: 5.7 - 6.4 %
Diabetes: >6.7 %

I don't know how to measure my blood sugar using mmol/l.. My glucometer shows mg/dL

Yes that's right, what range do you tend to get on your own blood tests, you've type 1 I gather?

I had 48 (6.5%) in January then 42 (6.0%) in July. I fear it can only get worse now!

Delighted with my most recent (14 Dec) HBA1c test, which was 42 mmol/mol. On 1 Sept it was 90 mmol/mol and on 24 Sept, 72 mmol/mol. However, the result comes with a warning to speak to my doctor because extremely tight control (<48 mmol/mol) may lead to increased risk of hypoglycaemia. I am inclined to ignore this.

Was 11.7% when diagnosed 28th Sept 2015, just had my results back from my test on 18th Dec, first one since diagnosis, and am 6.1%. Chuffed but much of that I suspect is down to the honeymoon phase.

44 on Monday

Been in the low 40's since 6 months after diagnosis, and no that's not due to frequent hypos.

My highest level this week has been a post meal 7.0, my lowest a mid run 3.7

The issue is that NICE has now recommended that Hba1C target should be 6.5% or below. People are worried about Hypos in this context, yet we have to understand what we define as Hypo. I'm well under this number but my only severe, assisted hypos occurred when I had an Hba1C of around 7% and was using Lantus.

My issue is that we regularly talk about hypos in the online community and no-one properly defines them. I consider a proper hypo to be below 3.5. Between 3.5 and 4.0 is still within the normal bounds of non-diabetic levels. Clinically a hypo is much lower than either of these. I've still got my hypo awareness after 27 years with this kind of range, but then I've not really had many severe hypos at all. I think to get below 6.5% there will be times when your levels drop below 4.0, however as long as it's not a long way below 4.0, then I don't believe, personally, that this is an issue.

Surely it depends on the symptoms not the readings.

I wasn't given my results in % so have no idea what it is, however my Hba1c was 112 the other day but that was on diagnosis, so I'm hoping that will lower over time.
How often should I get it checked? X

Got my latest result, 49 (6.6%) well chuffed. Was 115 at diagnosis 6 months ago, after 3 months was down to 65. Now in the 40's and well happy.
Next goal is under 45

Make that 12.4%

Being newly diagnosed you might be tested every 3-4 months until your diabetes is under control, after that you should expect at least one HbA1c check annually.
