Been T2 for 14 years and reasonably well controlled. Came off Metformin last year and put on to sitagliptin. Levels now around 13/14 . GP says nothing else left to try due to my cardiac and kidney issues. He says insulin is all that's left, is this true?

Hi @Cherokee and welcome to the forum.

If the G.P. is concerned about your cardiac and kidney issues then that does limit the medication that is available to you. I expect that is why you had to stop using Metformin?
What are your reservations about using insulin? There are Type2s here who use insulin and I hope they will post their experiences.

The page of Professor Roy Taylor at newcastle university.

He belives that everybody has this personal fat threshold, and if you lose enough weight compared to your personal fat threshold, you can reverse your diabetes.

Read the study

Above are two lecture by him, explaining his theory and showing pictures and stories of people being sucessful having done it.

Michael Mosley is just out with a book, based on Roy Taylors research, he has also written the foreword for the book.
Here is a link to the 8 week blood sugar diet.

Here is the thread of somebody doing the diet, and he has updated his sugars for each day. Look at the numbers, he got undiabetic numbers from day 6 on the diet!

I spend five or six months of the year on the continent , driving a vehicle in excess of 3.5 ton , not HGV, and as I understand it being Insulin dependant seriously compromises your license and insurance.
GP says that other alternative medications would need to be discussed with a Consultant, and there is a long waiting list !!!
