soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I'm willing to teach people how to cook. It's the cheapest way of eating AND you KNOW what's on your plate

Hi hanadr, well done to you in this testing time of financial crisis we all need all the tips we can get, and yes I am interested in some of your recipes if you would like to give some ideas. I agree with you regarding knowing what goes on our plates when it is cooked from scratch again well done, take care junieliz

I wonder if thats the reason Labour took away the 10p tax rate?????? Just makes it that little harder to eat a healthy diet.

For Junieliz Delicious meatballs. I buy ingredients at Lidl.
500g beef mince
1 egg
1 onion chopped
1clove garlic( or garlic powder,or garlicpaste)
few tablespoons oil
1red pepper or jar of pepperschopped
3or4 tomatoes choppedor can of tomatoes
1glass red wine( nice but not essential)
salt and pepper
Method
. in a bowl: season meat, break egg into it
Mix thoroughly
Make golf ball sized balls of meat mix.( probably about 12)
set aside on a cold plate
Oil into a pan or wok
brown balls a few at a time, put into ovenproof dish.
when all balls done, add a little more oil and the onion
fry onion until glassy
add peppers to oil, cook a little, add garlic, add tomatoes, add wine (or equivalent amount of water or stock if you like it.
cook until you have a thick sauce and the pan is coming clean.
pour sauce over balls
cook covered in a slow oven ( about 180degC) for an hour or more(until you are ready to eat)
Serve with a SMALL portion of rice or pasta.
Will freeze
You CAN spend time peeling tomatoes and peppers, but canned are just as good.

hi hanadr, thank you very much for your recipe, I am going to give it a go for my husband who is a diabetic and my grandson, I am a vegetarian but can change it around using quorn instead of mince for me, my grandson is taking cooking as his options at school so might be interested in the recipe. Keep up the good work take care junieliz
