Hello Ian D,I can give you a personal scenario but of course everyone reacts differently.....Yes, swelling of hands feet face is all normal with steroids. If daughter in law is only temp on them they will go down,if long term they go up and down,with the weather, standing, sitting....no explanation.!!
Yes, I too was told avoid doing low carb, and like your thinking thought"why" especially after all the advice I read on here......
Sooooo,after doing drs advice and blood sugars soaring,I took advice from here and try to keep carbs below 50 a day,my steroid level is on a base line of 15 mg but at present I'm on 30 mg.....I have not found any detrimental effect by lowering/cutting carbs.....
I have never been given an explanation as to why not to cut carbs, but I do know my blood glucose is far far better by reducing them.
