With my AiC going up each time it was tested over the last year, raching a high of 10.1% at the beginning of March, the DN had expressed concerns that I may be a type 1.5 rather than type 2. She referred me to a Specialist, a podiatrist and a dietician. Today was the last of those three appointments.
Last week I saw the Specialist and she increased my Victoza dose and put me on Gliclazide 80mg once a day with breakfast.
Before that appointment, I was getting readings between 9 and 17 and felt awful most of the time.
The first day on the new pills I had a fasting reading of 9.6 and then they dropped steadily throughout the day. I went to bed on 7.9. Was really pleased with this improvement.
On Monday I had a record reading of 4.9 before lunch! Most readings until today had been in the 5-8 range.
Today however, has been different. Fasting was 8.1, but by 11.30am it had dropped to 4.4! I ate a small snack and 15 minutes later it had dropped to 4.3. Gradually it picked up, getting back to 5.4 by the time I needed to go to the hospital for the dietician meeting.
By the time I reached the hospital it had gone up to 7.4, perhaps due to an emergency message coming up on the dashboard about tyre pressure dropping.
When I returned home it was 5.2 again. An hour later it was down to 4.2! So I had an early supper which levelled things off at 6.2 two hours later. It is now bedtime and its dropped to 4.9 again.
These readings in the 4's although not hypo level, knock it out of me. My mouth feels all tingly and I feel sort of "spaced out". Is this just because I have been running so much higher until this week?
Did I do right in bringing my meals forward?
Will things adjust over time?
Incidentally, I have been sticking to around 30g carbs a day, as before the meds change. Is that enough?
Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to get my head round this.
Regards,
Carol
