I presented with a Bg of 19.3mmol at my GPs surgery in early November. It peaked at about 22mmol before starting to drop.
The tests at the hospital were inconclusive about which Type, so they sent off for specialist tests.
I was on Glicazide for a few months, but it started giving me Hypos so they took me off of it.
Since coming off of the meds I've been holding roughly between 6 and 6.5mmol, although I was closer to 10mmol most of this weekend.
Went with no ketones for ages. But got really high ones a few weeks back and have been holding steady at trace amounts since.
It turns out (and I found this out after I got diagnosed) that I'm a forth generational diabetic. My mother is borderline and her mother and grandmother both had Type 2 in old age. One of my Dad's cousins is an acute Type 1.
Given all the information above my consultant placed my odds of being Type 1 at 87%.
I get the results at 2pm today. D-Day.
Anyone care to guess what I'll hear?

I've you're holding at 6 to 6.5 with no medication or insulin at all then I'd guess you're Type 2, unless you're on a good honeymoon period. If Jess didn't take insulin her readings would be in the high 20s or off the scale within a day and would not recover at all unless insulin was given. But then what I know about diabetes you could write on the back of an envelope so I really have no idea. Will be nice for you to get a conclusive result either way so at least you know what type you are.

Well they're refusing to confirm until they get my C-peptide back. :(
But they've reduced my testing to 4 times a week and don't see a need to medicate just now due to honeymooning, so I reckon I'm Type 2. :D
Am I still allowed to post in here...........?

HI Al,
Bet you must be so annoyed at not getting a definate diagnosis yesterday, but it does look as if your T2 or even Lada, as they don't wish to medicate you, yet. Must say i was tempted to place a bet yesterday, but as you weren't offering any odds or prizes, i declined :)
Regardless off what Type you are, everyones welcome here, i've found it to be very supportive, friendly and full of useful imformation,
Take care and keep us updated,
Suzi x

You'd always be welcome in this part of the forum I'm sure :) I hope you get a definite answer, it must be frustrating not knowing.

Yeah, it's pretty frustrating.
I don't want to get into thinking Type 2 just yet just in case the test comes back positive.
Still, less finger pricking and being allowed back to the gym has to be a good thing.

Hi Diabetic Al :) Did you ever get your c-peptide results back? I'm curious about what your diagnosis was.
