Work and Doctors Appointments

I've been at my first proper job for 3 months now, and I'm having a nightmare getting my diabetes appointments at a good time. Firstly I work across the country so travel quite a bit, and when I am working away from home I only get 1 day off. Secondly, we don't know where we are going until about a month before, which makes planning ahead for appointments super difficult, combined with the fact that there are 0 appointments ever available!
I don't know if anyone has any experience with this? I just feel like I am getting a little bit stressed and have so many things to be worrying about that I don't have time to chase up my medical records and demand appointments.

Book your appointments and then time work around it. That's basically all you can do. Your employer should be reasonable about allowing you appropriate time to attend appointments so you may need to work with them on scheduling.

It's a nightmare! I can only take appointments in the first or last hour of the day. Had to use holidays for the majority considering it's near impossible to get a good time

There are two doctors at the GP surgery that I am registered with that specialise in diabetes. There is also a diabetes nurse. Means I can have my reviews there rather than going to the hospital, which is where they tend to send people in this area. The appointments are then more flexible, so it makes it a bit easier to plan.

Not sure where you have to go for your appointments, but it might be worth seeing if this is an option for you? If not, all you can do is book the appointment and then plan your work around it, in much the same way as you would a holiday. I know it's a pain, but important to your health which needs to come first :)

My main issue currently is getting my eye screening done, which should have happened last month. I have an appointment for August but at a hospital about an hour away, combined with it being in the afternoon so likely half an hour delay minimum, plus appointment time, meaning I have to take the full afternoon off. I think I'm going to have a quiet work with my line manager and let her know so she can pencil in when I have appointments booked and we can work around that
