Hi everyone, I went to my doctors and asked him for a thyroid function test because of my family history and he said I will test you for diabetes too because diabetes can make you feel tired all the time so I went for the results and he said I would like to do the tests again because your fasting glucose level was 11.1. I went for my blood test the other day and it has come back as 8.8. Does it sound like I am diabetic? My mum and dad both have diabetes.

your doctor has to be the one to say it, but yes, this does sound like your blood sugar levels are much higher than in a non-diabetic person.
Just for comparison, I was diagnosed eighteen months ago as type 2 diabetic with a fasting level of 17.6. My non-diabetic partner has an average fasting level of 5. :shock:
Get your doctor to make a clear statement for you, but do look around this forum for advice and support, there are lots of helpful people here.
