Having to take these soul destroying injections. Believe me I've asked to go back on my original tablets numerous times,. And the DVLA Medical section.
Yet again the DVLA medical section are meddling with the driving laws.
The bottom line is if truth be told, is that the DVLA don't want any diabetic driving.
I mean they nit pick at every thing, and mention the word insulin! is another matter!
I found them brutal, ruthless, and robotic, I have no time for them at all.
I've told them that they treat me worse than a criminal, and a junkie!
I'm done with them, I considering chucking in what's left of driving licence, as I drove for a living, and 2 years on no job, no income, nothing, and that Doctor supposed of done me a favour, I don't think so! Guess what changed surgeries, but these lot stick together! Another life destroyed, on the scrap heap!

Like other diabetics, i am issued with a short licence. With only 1 year on it :-(
EVERY year, i fill in my renewal paperwork on time and as soon as DVLA issue it. EVERY year, my licence technically expires before a new one is issued. I know there is provision in UK traffic law allowing you to continue to drive on an expired licence while medical enquiries are ongoing - but it doesn't look good.

What you all may not know, is there is a Ministerial Complaints Team within DVLA that will deal with complaints (on your behalf) from your MP. So if you're hacked off and having problems - contact your MP - they do in some instances carry some weight.

Hi, I am also feeling discriminated against. As a HGV driver I had a heart problem in 2012 resulting in the loss of my HGV licence and consequently job. Diagnosed diabetic 6 months later and treated with insulin immediately (as it was kinder to my heart supposedly). My heart specialist informed me in 2015 that my heart condition was much improved and after a MRI stress test (not a nice experience) was told that there was no reason why I could not regain my licence. So I applied. After a 8 week wait to be considered I've had a DVlA appointment with my doctor to check my meter reading etc and yesterday in the post I get a letter informing me that my licence has been revoked. That's all categories including car. So now no driving at all. Just what I need as my wife has just had a knee replacement and cannot drive for 6 weeks at least.
It seems that the doctor may have ticked a wrong box on the form so in effect I am banned until I sort it out.
I would just like to point out that I have never had a hypo my management of my diabetes is good and i have a meter with at least 2 readings daily.
It seems that one question was do you test and record your glucose levels every 2 hours when driving to which i replied no as I am not working and do not currently drive further than the local shops or doctors 2 miles away. I said this because the record on the meter would not show many extra readings.
Thats enough for DVLA to withdraw my licence.
Is it any wonder that I feel like a victim. No job, no benefits (another story), had to sell my home and move 200 miles form my life of 35 years.
Feel like your life is over - Its getting that way!!!

Right wheres that push bike? maybe a tandem with no pedals on the rear LOL

Five weeks later now and still no progress. My diabetic consultant has faxed a letter to DVLA as have I. Phoned them at least once a week and only been told that I must wait my turn. Does not seem to matter that I am "in limbo" cannot work or get benefits. Just wait your turn. It's not funny anymore.

Hi all, Just a quick note to update those interested. I have finally got my car and bike licence re-instated. It took 11 weeks and countless phone calls to get back to where I was before. Still no decision on my HGV entitlement and no reason for revoking or re instating my car and bike licence. Now I have a letter to say that they apologise for the time taken so far but wish to make further enquiries and this will take time. So be patient.
As voiced by others on this forum it is as though dvla don't want insulin users to drive!!!!!!!
