I am type 2, diagnosed 2005 and my diabetic team are suggesting this new insulin Xultophy. At present I am on Insulatard, metformin and dapadliflazin. My levelas are 7.1 at my last HB1aC. However to get this reading I have to inject 90 units per day of Insulatard, plus the Metformin and Dapagliflazin.
Has anyone any experience of this new insulin Xultophy? It is a mixture of a degludec (Tresiba) and liraglutide (Victoza).
A few years ago I was on Byetta, but my appetite was dreadful, in fact I did not enjoy my food at all. (Bit like being pregnant with morning sickness all day!!) I don't want this to happen with this new insulin.
Any help out there????

Never heard of it....

Strange they are mixing Victoza with an insulin, as Victoza isn't actually an insulin.....

Thanks for your welcome Freema. This Xultophy is a new insulin. A slow acting one, 24 hrs. Ive Googled it and the information is there, but I really hoped for someone who had experience of it. I am also told that it helps with weight loss.??

i start this on monday, i was on victoza and levimer plus metformin plus forxiga now going to be on xultophy, metformin and gliglazide. Need to get used to the fasting blood test each morning and the 3 day add up of results then divide by 3 and look at the provided wheel and see if i need to up by 2 dosing units, leave the same or go down by 2 dose units. Seems a lot more complicated than any other regime i have been on but i am assured that this will finally do the trick. Any other users?

I have been on this stuff for a couple of months and I think it's great. Like you I tried Byetta a couple of years ago but with bad reactions (kidneys) and also like you I was put onto this as I was taking a high quantity of insulin (NovaRapid and Levemir).
I must say that I'm very impressed by this new stuff - my appetite has reduced and so I am eating less but my blood sugars have dropped a lot so that my morning readings are between 5 and 8. I have also lost just over a stone and the amount of NovaRapid is about a third of what it used to be. The Levermir was stopped when the Xutrophy was started. Get on it soon and I hope that you have the same sort of luck I'm having.
