We are all different and you need to speak with your team/DSN for dosing advice

I just leave the deactivated pod on for a few hours on change days, seems to avoid highs caused by the change.

... you might not really be supposed to do this though, so approach with caution.

pasta ice cream and chocolate
Change the pod before a meal and leave the old pod on for a couple of hours.

Perhaps also ask with a please and thank you :)

are you filling the cannula correctly?
e.g a 9mm cannula takes .5 units to fill and if your basal is 1.5 per hour your gonna be that .5 short after that hour.
just a thought.

For the first year on the Omnipod this was never an issue but seems to have become a problem for my son in the last six months. We currently put him on an increased temp basal for 2 hrs after every pod change to halt the rise.

You need to work out what is right for you.

We are all different.

You must know how long your levels go up high for and how high...

Its down to you to work out whether you need a unit working put thru omnipod pre changoever .

I suggest you get hold of your diabetes team and do this in conjunction with there agreement etc.

You need to go through this with your health persons.we dont know your daily rates, your high levels after or how soon they raise etc...

We cannot advise you whether your levels etc would handle a unit before changeover or whether a tbr after would be best or a combination.

You must do this with your health people if you haven't got the confidence to sort out by yourself..

For example.. one person above mentioned tbr for 2hrs whilst I was needing 250% for 5 hours....

A please and thankyou would be appreciated....

I have not got an Omnipod but if I had a high bg after inserting a new cannula, I would do a correction dose of insulin back to my target bg. My target is 6mmol so if my bg was 9mmol I would need a correction dose to cover 3mmol so that my bg returned back to my target.

Depends how high people go... my levels zoomed up to 20 guaranteed 99% of the time within 4 hours...
That is why you must get a way worked out for you, on your readings and correction figures...etc..
