Hi I've just been put on liraglutude on Thursday. My last HbA1c in Oct was 70 can you explain has my doc doesn't. Thank you

Your HbA1c of 70 was quite high. Anything over 47 isn't desirable.

Hi. Liraglutide is normally prescribed if you have a lot of excess weight as it helps to reduce that. However, the best thing is to adopt a good low-carb diet to get weight down and then the Liraglutide can be reduced/stopped but must be discussed with the GP first.

My weight has creep up with my thyroids and what ever diet I did I lost for a few months then put back on. So hopefully this will help. Thank you you for your help.

Liraglutide is victoza. I have been on it now for 10 weeks - for me minimum side effects and great weight loss - about 10kg so far

For me a wonder drug but I understand it may not stay that way. I think you also have to work with it as it let's you feel full but you can still over eat if you ignore that feeling.

Also most importantly blood glucose on my meter down from. 17.7 average to 7....

I've been very sick and the runs since Friday so hoping it will past as it only 3 days today

Recommendations I got was take a good probiotic it seems to help and I inject just before lunch so I eat less when feeling sick.

I also reduced my food - tended to eat little or no breakfast - 1/4 slice of bread for example. For lunch 2 crackers and a bit of cheese or half a sandwich and in the evening half a tea plate of food. Carbs tended to help. Even now dinner fits on a side plate!
