Have you done a DAFNE course and look into an insulin pump.

Hey AC-,

You mention only 44 units of Levemir in an evening. Are you only taking it once a day?
I ask as typically Levemir is used as a split dose so it is entirely possible that your basal insulin is actually running out half way through the day.

Are you keeping a log of what you eat, what you inject and what tests are so that you can see the day to day patterns? Without that information I think you will struggle to identify where the changes need to be made but I think you really need to talk to your specialist and DSN since a single levemir just does not seem right to me.

Hope you are ale to get to grips with this and bring things under control, it can be difficult to change but you really will feel a whole lot better once you do get to grips with it. Also it does get easier once you settle into a bit of a routine with it.

No I'll need to have a wee look!!and I am on 12 in the morning , 14 at lunch, 16-18 at dinner and 44 levimer at bed

Ok :) Odds are your insulin needs adjusting if you're going that high. Sort the basal first as that will make getting the meal doses right easier.

As said above, Levemir is often split so that might also be something you want to talk to,your DSN about.

I'm presuming you carb count and adjust your own meal time insulin? You've given set doses above but are those just your rough amounts for meals?
