I've officially had LADA for a week. I was put on Lantus Sunday and then got my fast acting Apidra on Wednesday

My readings are still too high so yesterday and today I have had 14 units of Lantus as advised. They were 15.9 this morning. Down from the 20's Wednesday.

I've been told to have 1 unit of Apidra per 20g of carbs - So I'm breaking my use down into 4 x 4-5 units per day. This is more carbs than I need - but I am enjoying the novelty. Plus, I will be cycling again soon too so this will be normalised.

Plus my belly is covered in bruises so the carbs I have need to be worth it.

I would walk but I am too worried about my feet.

How are the injections going? I know that was your big worry.

Sorry for the delayed response.
Indeed they are, thank you. its amazing - i have my life back - with just a little added self care and some sharps.

Fasting levels down to the 9's now on 18 units of Lantus and due to increase by 2u in 2 days. that should do the trick. ;) xxx

It sounds like you are off to a good start and taking active care of yourself.

I was diagnosed LADA a year ago and it was/is an adjustment. I am very active in sports and find that my Novo- Rapid insulin needs are greatly reduced earlier in the day as well as Lantus the night prior. Please discuss with your diabetic care team to get their advice on cycling and be extra careful to always have something to eat with you incase you go low. I learned this after becoming low with hypo unawareness and had a very difficult time getting myself home as I was confused and extremely weak.

Best wishes for your journey
