type 2 and becoming impotent

Hello,

I would like to discuss a few items about being type2 on byetta. I find the health professionals very secretive. So im posting this on here.

The facts - im male, 42 6ft fit muscular 14st 13 BMI=27.5. I’ve been diagnosed since Nov 2002. Been on byetta injections since June 2009, I also take metformin glizide tablets and rampril. Since taking byetta ive dropped from 16st 6 down to 15st. The drug makes you feel sick all the time so iam unable to eat what I use to eat. I also have fatty liver disease. Over the past 3 years I have become totally impotent, I take levetra with limited success.

Sugar levels have dropped and are consistently below 7 for a 3 month average.
I hardly eat and try and do 2 hrs exercise 3 times per week. I cycle a lot but find I just don’t have the power in my legs compared to any of my friends whether they are fat or thin.

Living a sex less life isn’t very appealing.

Let’s discuss, any comments would be appreciated

cheers

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
Erectile dysfunction is very common in diabetic men. It isn't helped if you also take a blood pressure medication. You have a right to treatment, so ask your Gp or your diabetic clinic.
I don't know why those in diabetes care don't ask all their male patients about this routinely. They know how common it is

im upto speed on all ED treatment. no body wants to discuss problem, especially the doctors. Im 42 and i dont like the idea of never having sex ever again. Ive gone from being sex mad 3 years ago to not having any urges what so ever. And its starting to shrink due to lack of use. lol

is this the slippery slope to nerve damage, bits dropping off etc.

Anybody on byetta?

anybody been offered stem cell treatment?

People who are touchy.......feign indignation at the slightest thing. Hypocrites, bullies and cowards.
Hi.
I have been on Byetta for 14 months and at no time have I had any ED problems. Quite the opposite !

I think that you need to get a referral to a Urologist who specialises in such matters. They will talk to you about all aspects of this particular problem. Maybe your GP is just not very knowledgable about the subject. Maybe even shy .......

There are many things which can cause ED, and whilst Diabetes is one, there are others which are unrelated to Diabetes. You say you know about all the treatments, do you know of the possible causes as well ?

There is a very extensive Byetta thread here in Diabetes Medications and Drugs. If you have any specific questions relating to Byetta that is the place to ask them.

if you are not getting much luck with levitra, try one of the other ED drugs like viagra or cialis.i have had some problems with ed but i was not diagnosed as diabetic then. My GP is ok with discussing this and i am not embarassed either.recently i have been finding i can do with outb thetablets now and again. However, sex is not just about penetration and perhaps some alternative methods would help you along in the meantime and perhaps your partner would be happy to oblige . :p :p :D :D :D

thanks for replies, everything discused isnt new to me. Good to know the chap taking byetta isnt experiencing ED therefore it must be other causes. My sugar levels went way out of control feb 2009 so i was refered back to hospital clinic and prescribed byetta. clearly losing nearly 2 stone has helped with sugar levels. ED has got worse and worse. Yes ive been to a urologist, they rely on viagra, ciallis, ciallis daily and levetra as the mirracle cure to ED.

in my opinion its the combination of different drugs, fatty liver issue (poor cholestrol result) and the high blood pressure drug.

again, thanks for replies, next review is in march so will discuss with consultants then.

Secondly, sex is all about penetration, playing with toys, oral, massage etc is just foreplay and with out doing the deed and doing it well sex and relationships is totally pointless.

anyway

thanks for replys

Slayer1968,
Ask your Doctor to put you on Victoza, this is a once aday injection and controls your eating/hunger desires and helps you to lose weight. :D
