Over the last few days and night I've been sweating really bad (never sweated this much) and I've hardly had any sleep. What can be the issue??

It doesn't feel like a hypo I feel fine I think it's high I've read on the internet that it's could be call fight or flight? Or when my blood levels have been high for too long
Over the years, I have realised if I am waking up in the middle of the night or struggling to get to sleep in the first place, there is a good chance my BG is "wrong". It may be too high or it may be too low. But often I am too hot,
As a result, I am trying to train myself to turn on the light and test whenever I wake in the middle of the night. Sometimes, this is a struggle as all I want to do is go back to sleep but I tell myself that I have woken for a reason.
As a result, I still get unexplained highs and lows in the night but, because I treat them at the time, my overall control has improved and my mornings are far better - less morning hyper or hypo "fogs".

I have noticed this as well daytime I'm ringing wet all the time in an air con shop. At night cannot have covers on. Take boots off and socks are soaked. Not noticed it before but was wondering, now see this post hmmmm.

I get unusually hot and sweaty if I'm heading towards a rapidly-dropping hypo, or if my thyroid medication is too high.

I too am curious to what your bs levels are

When I first started on insulin my control was not good until I figured my diet and insulin out.
I would sweat during the night and I never sweat. My hair would be plastered to my skull. I realize now it was the quick drops as they had me on basal only to bring me down during the night.

In the olden days they used to say sweating was a sign of high blood sugars, but I've found in my experience they can be a sign of either high or low blood sugars. For example, 6 month ago I had a flu bug and my sugars dropped to 1.4. Luckily I was round my sisters, and she grew up with me so knew what to do, but my clothes were soaked with sweat so much it looked like someone had thrown a bucket of water over me. As soon as my sugars were normal range - 6-9 the sweating stopped entirely. I've also heard that it can be linked to thyroid too - being over stressed.

Hi, I have had this problem for many years. Along with some other symptoms I was diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy and Autonomic Neuropathy mostly due to having had high blood sugars for many years.

I'm not saying this is what it is but it's worth considering and always if you have any problem you think may be related to your Diabetes then seek advice/help from your specialist.

I noticed a change in my sweating patterns immediately after changing insulins a few years back - at least that's the only correlation I can think of - I love spicy food - the hotter the better and I would sweat a little and get a little flushed when eating something super spicy but once I changed insulins it all changed - the first time I went in to a Pad Thai place, ordered something extra spicy, and I started to sweat so much my co-workers thought that maybe I was having a heart attack or something - don;t know if it's coincidental or has something to do with either my humulog or Lantus insulin. But the abnormal sweating began around the same time I switched to those insulins and now when I have Pad Thai I sit way off in the corner of the restaurant so no one can see me and think I need an ambulance ...

Firstly if you tell us your average BG we can at least rule out hypo/hyper attacks, but night sweats can be brought on by many things, including, age, medications or a smaller dose of opiates, too hot a room, Too many bedclothes, eating or drinking just before sleep. Your fight or flight theory is unlikely to be the cause as it would occur along with other signs and symptoms, if this continues you should either see your doctor or your endocrinologist

I've been diagnosed with type 2 for 4 years now and on insulin for the last 12 months.
I've also had high blood pressure for the last 25 years
I too have been sweating loads. I thought it was a reaction to one of the many BP tablets.
I was sent for a blood test where everything was tested, not the one where they are just testing for one condition.
It turns out I have an overactive thyroid, hyperthyroidism.
This can account for the sweating among other things.
I've just seen the specialist and just started medication for it.
He was keen to find out how my diabetes was.
Not sure if the two things are related but, if this helps....
