Glad this has come to the top of the heap so to speak! Window cleaners used to get chemists to make up a mixture of apodeldoc (not too sure of spelling) and glycerine .For anyone allergic to additives in shampoo or hand washed you can buy soap nuts and make a natural soap I use this in my washing machine but I won't tell you all the story about when I burnt the soap!!

I agree with the comment about liquid soap, my hands became so sore, cut and chapped that it was difficult and painful doing anything.
A friend told me about the problems with liquid soap so I stopped using it. Then my hands healed and I no longer get the problem.
When they were bad the only thing that helped was using Lansinoh cream, it is high in Lanolin (so not suitable for vegans) and wonderful. I now use it on my rough heels. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lansinoh-HPA-Lanolin-Cream-40ml/dp/B007ZNGUZY
