Just took a reading before eating evening meal and my monitor gave a reading of low. Has anyone experienced this? I was feeling very hungry

Wash your hands and retest before eating.

Agreed...test again! Do you know if that means below detection threshhold? Could it be low battery?

What low limit is your meter set at @imperp ? Have you set it too high?

No just factory settings. Meter is less than 10 days old. Presume big was below 2?

It won't be as low as that. Do check your meter settings and see what it is. Mine is set at 3.9 to 7.8 (factory settings) It is an Accu Chek Mobile.
