I forgot to buy my nettle tea this week and couldn't be bothered cycling to the shop to get some. I faced breakfast without a hot drink so decided to end my 5.5 year coffee ban ( and all caffeine drinks). I was expecting a spike but bizarrely ended up with a mild hypo.

My last cups of coffee , all those years ago , resulted in spikes so I quit.

Unfortunately I knocked my libre sensor off last night and since reattaching it it's now running 2mmol too low, so can't view the pattern and am relying on finger pricks.

How does coffee impact other T1's BS ? My energy level is through the roof :)

Coffee or tea doesn't effect bsl it's more the milk. Try with cream

How did you reattach? Using an applicator or manually?

Manually , the hole was still open. Clearly didn't work :-(

From what I understand you can't re-use the applicator.

There's only 4.8g CHO in 100ml semi skimmed milk. Unless you're having lots of really milky coffee, then I'd imagine the effects on your BG would be negligible.

If anything, I'd be more concerned over the increased fat and calories from the cream over milk. But that's just me:)

My understanding too. Thought for a moment you'd discovered some trick.

@Wurst, I see a reaction to coffee, although not a massive spike. I log it and treat it, for a Venti filter coffee from starbucks, as a 15g of carb food amount. So yes, it does have an effect and it's down to the stimulation of ephedrine by caffeine.

I experimented some more this morning with 4 cups of black coffee and a new libre sensor. Pretty much flatlined with the exception of a small rise of ~ 10 mg/dl between 10 am and 11 am. I normally get this Monday morning's so it's not coffee related.

Coffee back on the menu for me!

I don't drink coffee and rarely have caffeinated tea. Occasionally, I will have a diet coke when I feel the need to stay awake. With so little caffeine most of the time, the coke has a very pronounced affect.
I hope your 4 black coffees have not caused you to bounce off the walls too much.

Coffee on it's own doesn't affect me. I *think* coffee with meals makes the meal spike me much more than normal (it's happened repeatedly but could be down to something else I suppose)

Coffee does nothing to blood sugar, It's basically hot water, so that makes perfect sense.
