Me too, I receive excellent support from my dn. In previous surgeries, it’s not always been that way I suspect I had diabetes for about 5 years or so before I was diagnosed, doctor told me I wasn’t diabetic but it was obvious that I’d been drinking the night before my tests. But looking at now, I have amazing support. My situation at the start was rather complex as I know many other people on here

Hi Goacher55.
Thank you for your reply and glad to here you’ve got a good team helping you also.

I’m interested to here about your complexities at the outset of your treatment, simply because my other illnesses continue to make my treatment options less straight straight forward than they could be otherwise.

I understand if you don’t wish to expand, however.

There are always going to be people who aren’t receiving top care, it’s the nature of the health system and combined with each individuals willingness and desire to learn and adapt to situations. That goes for patients as well as the specialist staff.

It appear so far from replies received that the vast majority of diabetics in the U.K are receiving top quality treatment help from the outset, which is fantastic to read. Still, others haven’t been as fortunate and struggle with their condition more than they should have to.

Is there a general solution that could be applied to the NHS to resolve that problem....I doubt it.

That’s life a guess, which is easy to say when you aren’t the one having to deal with an inferior treatment regime. Forums like this however are invaluable to those needing more help and direction so we must keep sharing our experiences, good and bad, so to help in even the smallest way to alleviate the anxieties and increase the knowledge of fellow diabetics and professionals alike.
