When I

When I saw a dietician, for the first time in 50 years, she didn't even know how much cho was in a slice of bread---so basic it is untrue....!!! I had already told her that I took sandwiches to work--ones that I made myself then she said that it must be so difficult to work out how much cho was in sandwiches I bought in the staff canteen. The entire appointment was a bit of a waste of time......!!!!!!

You as much as anybody must be frustrated with dodgy advice and misinformed medics. Having had a glance at your profile you are a great example of how to manage, even thrive, while managing your condition for so long - good on you.

The examples are individual examples of staff error.
My team always ask how much insulin I take, make me give ratios, the dietician I saw had me reworking out real meal carb values and doses.
My team have discussed Libre approval and have promised further information as things become clear.
Perhaps you have met the bad ones?

There have been threads in the past giving horror stories of what happened at the clinic. This one didn't happen to me but was reported by one of the other contributors.

She was told that the reason she should not test was because she would need her fingertips to read the braille when she went blind.

Please don't have nightmares.

I believe I have remembered it more or less as the poster told it on this web site. Out of all the anecdotes told this one stays in my mind for obvious reasons.
No, I did not make it up. Sorry.

Yep, that is totally down to uneducated doctors. You see the way they have been taught us to pile in the carbs and meds, and they will eventually lead to full blood insulin dependence.

I met a doctor recently , specialising in diabetes who told me his FIRST treatment for all diabetics of ANY type was to put his patients on insulin , only later would he consider if they might reduce it a little. The level of ignorance out there is truly breathtaking.

Professionals who know little about diabetes who generalise!!

At least you are getting some attention from your HCPs.
Since diagnosis the only doctor I have seen was from an associated practice and a total stranger, trying to persuade me to take statins again as the nurses had not made any notes about my diabetes, and I suspect that the number the doctor was working from were long out of date, as I had been told that no cholesterol test had been done since the low one which was done at 80 days from diagnosis and what she was working on was exactly the same numbers as the one done a year before.
I went though all the problems I'd had with the tablets - again, and she made one very brief note.
As the side effects of Metformin and Atorvastatin are not recorded it is little wonder that they are considered safe and effective.
