Is that 2 hours after first bite, and after all meals? Do you have any exercise during those 2 hours?

If you ring your surgery you can ask for print outs of your blood test results. (assuming you are in the UK) You really need to know what they are. Have you been having regular blood tests at your surgery since diagnosis, and regular reviews with a nurse or doctor?
Just for info' I asked for print outs of my results and they have told me I have to pay 10 GBP for them, which doesn't seem quite right to me.

Outrageous, but I have heard of similar cases from others on this forum.

In at least some NHS areas you can get online access to test results, I believe. I don't have personal experience of this because I am in America. Others will know the rules for online access and post here I hope.

I'm sure it is not.
Try going along with a notebook and asking them to read them out to you - all of them - slowly - they might change their mind - I was offered a printout when I brought out my diary and asked for the results from my last test.

I have gone on line but from 1/08/2017 so I cannot get into results before 1/08/2017, thus the reason for asking for a print out.

Good idea, looks like you just have to make a nuisance of yourself.

Whereabouts are you?
In Scotland I get to see all of my results on line for free.......
My DN printed a hard copy when we met for my review..... for free.....

10 quid is outrageous.
Phone the practice, ask for the secretary and then ask for the numbers.

As @hankjam has said, in Scotland we get pretty comprehensive on-line data and it is updated PDQ after tests. I can usually access mine within three or four days.
The image below is just one of about a dozen more detailed and historical results that I've access to.

In the UK we have a legal right for access to our medical records after the date the Freedom of Information Act became law, As said here by others, you can request to view your details, and write them down, but where a surgery provides a service such as printing out data for you to take away, then they can levy a charge for this as a service.

To go back to you original posting, I am a T2D on orals and diet, but 2 years ago my bgl was running higher than yours are now, and I was regularly registering above 32 mmol/l on my meter which is major, Like you I had no real symptoms, and felt fine, I was a little wider round the middle but generally lean and active. Not peeing abnormally, even during the night.

My GP threatened me with Insulin so I took b***y big steps to take control myself. I changed my diet, and now 2 years later my daily average bgl is 6 mmo/.l and I rarely go above 8 mmol/l, So it is possible you can turn things around too, Indeed the drop in bgl after a meal would seem to indicate that your stage 1 insulin response is working well, and that you do have some active beta cells going for you. However, the rise overall might suggest that your basal (i,e,background) insulin response is either not working, or is being blocked by Insulin Resistance (IR), If it is not working then a basal dose of insulin may be one possible path, but if it is due to IR then a change in diet may be appropriate,

We are not doctors here, and only specialists in our own unique condition i.e. ourselves.so you should do your own research and discuss with your GP. Mine became very supportive of me once I demonstrated I could change my results significantly by diet alone.

The first bit of research I would advise is what is called Eat to Meter which is a techniqe that helps identify and show what food does to your body. You may shock yourself when you test a chinese takeaway for instance, You can then start to eliminate those foods that cause high bgl responses, and begin to see levels coming down. It is not an overnight process, though , especially if IR is causing grief.

Sorry but I have to clarify this, FOI has nothing to do with personal records like medical records and I would not want anyone making the wrong request.

Data Protection Act will give the right to request personal information.

https://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/records/healthrecords/Pages/what_to_do.aspx

I think people are confusing test results ordered by the GP and test results/medical records held at the hospital. It is only the GP ones that are freely available just for the asking.

Hi. I was in a similar situation regarding high blood sugars. I am type 2, diagnosed in March, and nearly always had quite high blood sugar results, average was around 19-21. During my 2nd stay in hospital in the space of 3 weeks, for serious infections, one of the doctors basically said enough and put me on insulin. I am currently on 160mg Gliclazide twice a day and 14 units of insulin in the morning and have seen a notable difference in my blood sugar levels. I was also started on Metformin about 2 months after starting the Gliclazide but it had to be stopped as I had a reaction to it. It maybe worth asking your GP/Diabetic Nurse about the possibility of starting insulin injections along side your other medication. Good luck. I hope things get sorted for you. Colin.

What you usually eat might seem alright, and I guess it is, for people who aren't diabetic... I mean, bread, potatoes, and oh my, Chinese food... Not good, if you want to lower your sugarlevels. I have no clue if this might be the case, someone else here might know, but maybe when you fasted, your liver started dumping glucose like crazy to keep you up to your "regular" levels. (If I don't eat in the morning, I skyrocket). No idea if liverdumps can last for 3 days straight though, so I'm just guessing. But like others here have said, drop the carbs. Salads and above-ground veggies, nuts, (unprocessed) meats etc are your friends. No cereals, bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc; cut those out for a bit and see if you feel better. If you do, stick with it. I would advise doing that with your GP or dietician though. Since you're on meds there's rather a big chance you'll hypo. (I can't remember if you self-test, but you might want to start.). Good luck!
