Good luck with it all, and please do ensure you take all the support and education you can pay your hands on. I'm sure, for me, that would be a big part of learning to accept and live with it.

Thanks. I'm very much the type of person who believes knowledge is power, so have spend a fair few hours learning all I can. The trigger for treatment is WBC doubling time so I am back in 3 months to see whats happening. As its incurable it is recommended to hold off from 1st treatment for as long as possible to enhance the overall survival time so am happy to crack on. Struggling a little with fatigue and did wonder if that could be exacerbated by the diabetes but my hba1c has come down slightly and am still diet controlled so maybe not. I've always been a positive person, this is just another thing to kick ass with lol :)

One massive example of courage from which so many could learn. The world could use much of that. But I'd gladly give you the market and a free pass ... use it for yourself as you thoroughly deserve it and then some

Great post and fabulous attitude. I applaud you.

I know if B's going though a tougher time, the fatigue is one of his "are you pushing the envelope" signs, so he just dials back a bit for a few days and really sense checks he's not, in fact burning the metaphoric candle.

To be honest, I would think at least some of your fatigue will be the diagnosis, plus the research you are doing and trying to quiet your mind when it comes to a natural sleep time. Any big diagnosis is going to wobble the old equilibrium a bit.

In this day and age of the FitBit and so on, I've been astonished to see the difference in the quality of my sleep in times of high stress. I might still sleep, but not nearly such good quality.

Keep fighting that good fight, but maybe this is a time to learn an additional layer of recognising when you need to be just a bit extra kind to yourself.

People that can't listen to other people's opinions.
People that can't say sorry.
Do seek out help and support from any cancer therapy center like Maggies or Robert Horrell Centre... they are there to support from a multi faceted different help on way thru journeys...

We have a fantastic one in Peterborough and Cambridge as well.

They offer support beyond the actual treatment itself and are very highly recommended.

Hope that you get good, effective treatment... and good luck... xx

Hi @shellysexbomb , sorry I missed this first time round. I'm very sorry to hear of your diagnosis and may your CLL be a sleeping dragon. I'm hoping mine is. I was amazed at the expert and patient people I found in haematology compared with the conveyor belt of my local surgery, but I'm not blaming anyone but the politicians for that. I was quite overcome when talking to one of the cancer nurses by her willingness to let me ramble on about anything for as long as I wanted, until I felt there must be something more important she could do. Later it occurred to me that while I was with her, I was the most important thing. That's quite an eye-opener. I hope you find people like that too -- it will make a huge difference to your wellbeing.
I was diagnosed early thanks to my annual HbA1C tests. I have no symptoms except a gently rising lymphocyte count. The first specialist I saw told me that while people on the outside talk fearfully of The Big C, in oncology they give it a lower case 'c' and concentrate on treatment.
I've decided that everything I do will be looking to the future. I've just had a load of timber dumped on the drive with a view to building raised veg beds and steps and repairing compost bins. I'm planning for spring and summer. Barring accidents I'll have a great Christmas, and I hope you do too.

Good on you! I was put through the mill a bit as the first consultant I saw was adamant it wasnt CLL which would mean it was one of the more aggressive relatives of CLL. Bone marrow biopsy and weeks of getting myself worked up with speculation to be told by a different consultant that it WAS (atypical) CLL. Hubs has it (what are the chances) and has been stable on watch an wait for about 7 years. Hoping to be the same. Lovely to read your positive post and good luck with all the diy, have a fab christmas :):D

Yeah, start humming the old song "accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative, that's what gets results" and annoy the pants off your family. We deserve some fun.

Good thoughts and best wishes to @shellysexbomb
My monitoring for leukaemia (CLL) has been extended from three-monthly to four-monthly, which is a good sign. Since my high cholesterol includes a lot of non-HDL and with a heart condition (a/f) making me in the NHS books even more likely to have a heart attack in the next 10 years I've agreed to restart statins, and at last the GP has changed my anti-coagulant from aspirin to rivaroxaban.
Mrs DeeJay and I have just spent a week in a hotel beside a lake in northern Italy, where we had some splendid walks in snow and sun. The choice of low-carb food was pretty awful and we couldn't get a decent cup of coffee for under €7, so in the end I jumped off the wagon and over 8 days I had a piece of raspberry tart, some tiramisu, a coffee ice cream and a custard muffin. However there was a grocer's shop with deli and fresh veg nearby so I augmented my Lidl rolls and Babybels. I'm now back in charge in the kitchen and on the wagon.
The knowledge shared on the forum always amazes me and it's great to see people's initial fear and bewilderment replaced by good information, confidence and hope.

Great to see you post, DeejayR. Sounds like you had a great holiday. I'm sure the walking would help you dealing with all that deliciousness. :)

Hello all, many thanks for the kind words and thoughts. Must admit I have always fancied Italy, had heard its expensive though :(

I am on W+W, last appointment saw a slight fall in my ALC so am apparently suitable for community monitoring along with hubs! Had ct scan which showed a few slightly enlarged nodes, CLEAR LUNGS (woohooo) and knackered discs in bottom of back. I also have numb hands, following neuropathy tests I am having an op on 4th april (terrified) Other than that I am still 21 in the head and trying to make the most of every precious day that I am given. Big love to all you fellow fighters :) :)

Its tomorrow. Terrified. Have a permanent cough and this concerns me. Trying to convince myself that if it IS an issue the hospital will cancel. Never used to be this scared. Had reaction to drugs on a stress ecg a few years ago and now I overthink everything and panic that I will have further adverse reactions to drugs. Wish it was thursday :shy:

Wishing you well, @shellysexbomb . You will naturally be worried. This is one of those times we have to take a deep breath and trust the medics. Difficult though that is. Soon be Thursday. :)

All done. Stayed awake throughout :wideyed: Was more damage than initially thought so the 45 min surgery took 90 mins. in a fair amount of pain but playing space cadet on painkillers. Thanks for the kind words and well wishes everyone, I am now going to enjoy the enforced rest from work ;)
