I suppose there is a possibility the pains you are suffering could be Polmyalgia Rhuematica which causes severe pain in the large muscles that control movement in the legs hips shoulders and down the arms and can cause numbness in the hands . My husband has that and takes steroids for it...probably why he has T2.. as that is the only treatment pain killers don't work at all for that

I have had Fibromyalgia for 12 years and arthritis. A trauma can bring on Fibro such as an illness or Heart Attack etc. Burning and pain is very common with Fibro. It feels sore to touch and very tender. Like as if you have been dragged along the pavement and scraped your body sore kind of thing. There is no blood test for Fibro, but do blood test to rule out anything else,it is pretty standard. Have you have any other symptoms?

I have had T1 for 36 years and was diagnosed with fibro Nov 2016. I'm currently having a major flare, I suspect brought on by recent surgery. Right now I'm finding it very hard to juggle all 3 things at once, go through the menopause, and "keep going" and stay sane!

Hello All! If you google fibromyalgia diagnosis, you will likely see a chart that shows the 13 "sore" spots that a Rhuematologist will test for pain levels - I forget where all they are - I just remembering during a physical the Dr. felt for these as I was complaining of so much pain and it hurt for at least an hour afterwards! Anyway, I have Fibro and Amytryptiline is still one of the best meds out there, especially for getting some restorative sleep.
Fibros also have trouble absorbing some minerals and hormones.....Right now I am taking magnesium - the Glycinate one as it doesn't affect the gut like the other one does....I have IBS as well and many Fibros suffer from that too. Immodium is my BFF when traveling or going to an event that I don't want to miss b/c I'm "otherwise occupied":) Like diabetes no two Fibros are alike either and we have to research and find what works best for us personally.
On top of having diabetes, it is difficult to know which is giving one a difficult day....Some days better than others....Life goes on and we have a choice each morning how we are going to greet and live the day....I prefer to always look forward to another day to enjoy the love of my two granddaughters and show them how a strong woman gets on with life!Blessings/L

When you think about it, we are all strong in our own way and have to be amazed at how resilient our bodies really are, despite it's struggles to maintain homeostasis - a state of "ease" - not "dis-ease". Cheers!

Hi all, I’m new to the forum and was looking for a thread like this. I’m waiting to see the rheumatologist to hopefully confirm whether my fatigue and constant joint/muscle pain is indeed fibromyalgia, as all my other healthcare specialists suspect. I take 75mg pregabalin in the morning and 300mg at night, which also is to treat my trigeminal neuralgia. I also use a cbd vape, which has been more helpful than the pregabalin as it knocks me out for the night. Been T1 for 20 years this year as well.

Does anyone on here also have fibromyalgia?

Just trying to "bump" my post / thread.
I have fibromyalgia diagnosed originally as ME then fibromyalgia in 2002. The first symptoms for me was a very painful shoulder and then being so dizzy that I couldn't walk unaided. I was tested for MS, brain tumours and various other illnesses. I was so fatigued that I couldn't hold a phone or stir something in a pan. I would also get what I called "electric cattle prod " pain which would make me cry out. These were mainly in my torso.
Only a rheumatologist can diagnose fibromyalgia. Is there any way you could afford to see one privately? I had to do this to see an orthopaedic surgeon as my gp said I was too young (58!) To need knee replacement. Once I had seen him he put me straight on his NHS list so it was money well spent. Good luck

Your thyroid function must have come back good too?

Up at 4am. My back pain seems to be subsiding on higher carb and higher bgs. Strange!
I'm now hungry. Sore tummy hungry, in fact. I will go take my thyroxine which has to be on empty stomach and hours before food.
This eating breakfast straight away worked last year but not this year. Due to an additional tablet which needs empty stomach.
I'm really struggling to accommodate all my ailments!
