grrrr ...talk about rollercoaster riding. My daughter 19 t1 autism non verbal is on novomix bd for lifestyle purposes. 28u in am 9u pm currently. As she is not able to realise hypos and hypers meticulous bsl measuring is a must. Her specialist has said “normal levels 4-8” mmols are too risky for her to stay due to increased risk of hypos and me losing my mind so he felt levels between 8-10mmols would be good for her...ok so i work with this.
I have also been meticulous in recording measuring carbs for her as i really want to achieve optimum bsl levels for her for the obvious reasons.
But you know im miffed...i really am. Last few days great readings 8/ 9 mmols during day and steady readings of 8mmols at night. I was told she must have supper before bed with this insulin and strictly carb count that too to avoid hypos/hypers during night.
So in the evening readings 2hrs post supper before bed bsls have been around 10mmol and drop steadily to 8mmol post breakfast. One would say oh ok thats good continue with what youre doing...ummmm ok
Then last night levels were one point higher before bed gave her same supper thinking the night would be ok.
Nope...by 12am when i tested shed dropped 5 points. And continued to drop another 2 at 3am and has levelled out at 6.4mmol at 6am...im a frazzled mess!!Why is this happening im keeping everything the same monitoring 3x each night because im very scared that this will happen again ...i dont trust insulin as far as i can throw it...
Now my question is....do i keep battling along with 9units as going back on my records it occured a week ago when she did a massive 5 point drop at night or decrease it to 8units tonight.?
Btw shes not right at 6mmol vague lethargic as if shes experiencing a low .I dont know how to win this battle...just want some peace tbh. If anyone cam shed light on this happy to hear from you.

Type of diabetes
LADA
Treatment type
Insulin
I can't advise you on insulin doses, I only wanted to send you a hug.
Must be really hard, especially with the lack of sleep you must have by now. It won't help you tonight, but would it help on the longer term to try to get a cgm with an alarm for lows or highs? That way you would only have to wake up when it gives an alarm.
And, not helpful either, but most diabetics experience blood sugars having a mind of there own, even if we do everything the same as yesterday. Can be time of month, a change in the wheather, a bad dream or whatever.
All the best for the both of you and I hope you'll have a good night tonight!
