If I may throw in my 2 cents...

For some, this can be a powerful motivator to work hard so that you get better control of your sugars. The better your sugar control, the lower your risk of all kinds of complications, including ED and other sexual problems. Even if you are already having problems, getting control of your sugars will slow those problems down.

Although ED can be caused by loss of sensation or blood flow problems, it can also be caused by psychological factors, which are easier to treat, so don't panic if you are having problems. Ideally, talk to a counsellor, a doctor, and your spouse.

I am sorry hichamgsm but that is an ignorant, .

Yes it is. Already I'm ignorant

Otherwise why would I ask ?

But let me tell you that I am not here to waste time in a trivial question

Nor do I mean to offend anyone, no matter what a man or a woman

When I say a man is worse than a woman I mean symptoms
Your response would be nice if it avoided abuse

Well, only YOU are in charge of that. Keep your blood glucose under control and it might not happen There's no point in worrying until it does.....worry and stress affect your blood glucose readings adversely, and may even lead to ED without elevated glucose. Do everything you can to keep those sugars under control, and it probably won't happen What a good motivator for you!

Many men prefer not to speak on the subject for the sensitivity of the problem

But today we will try to discuss it because it is an important topic and may include many diabetics

I have heard a lot about the failure of some marital relationships because of diabetes

Because of the health, psychological, economic and sexual problems
What concerns us here are sexual problems

I have heard that many marriage relationships have stopped because of that

The question is whether the person with diabetes should have this problem ?

What is the solution to avoid this

Regardless that the problem may vary from person to person and from country to country

I have sexual impotence, erectile dysfunction, call it what you will I have tried viagra and taladafil ( I think ) without any improvement and I do miss the physical side, but I’m not embarrassed about it or ashamed to talk about it, I think it’s very negative to repeatedly say “ men are embarrassed to talk about their feeling etc” we are not just a lack of people to care of adults problems ( I’m not a teenager that’s what I mean ) whether that be ed, depression or loneliness. I am a single man now with teenage children, but my separation was not caused by sexual health ( I think ) .

There is a lot of fear banded about on this site / subject, in my experience I’ve had good bg control for many years but after 44 years I’m getting many complications, I’m very aware of them and live with that awareness/ fear constantly but I can do nothing about things happening. I am no longer ashamed or embarrassed as I used to be but it’s the public in general that need to get themselves educated, not for me to do it. I take injections, I use a pump, I take bg readings, I take hypos, I’m blind, I’m depressed, I’ve got mobility and joint issues, am I afraid, embarrassed, ashamed, NO.

This is an interesting thread!

So far, touch wood, I haven't noticed any problems down below.

Unfortunately that fact isn't of much use to me at the moment. This thread has reminded me that I really do need to get back on eHarmony later this year to see if I can bag me a woman, I hear you can get them there.

PS: I said touch wood, didn't I? :D

People that can't listen to other people's opinions.
People that can't say sorry.
I dont think that everything regarding ED or anything similar could directly always be put down to diabetes.

Men and wonen at all ages and not diabetic can have problems.

I think if any man or woman has any problems that they talk to a GP.

Thank you very much for your response but diabetes causes problems in the micro vessels

As far as I know the penis is full of vessels

The question is, what do you mean by touching the wood?

See above post from Adam, for men to have “ wood” is slang / anecdotal for erection and it’s a long standing joke people allegedly told the male children “ touching that will make you go blind “

Greetings Mr. Sam

Ethics is more important than any religion or race

I think I'm even sure that my health would be bad without the help of forum members

These members I do not know their religion and color only I know their good morals thanks to all

There are also those who insulted me with some words, and I also forgive them from my heart

Drug use is a temporary solution I think

Drugs to treat ED don't cure the problem. Yes, they are a temporary solution, like a lot of drugs are: These kinds of drugs control the symptoms of a condition without curing it.

That doesn't mean it's wrong to take them.

In our culture, a lot of men with ED are made to feel that it's a relationship issue when it's not. It's often a blood vessel issue. And often, even controlling diabetes perfectly is not enough to fix it.

Indeed. Here is Dr Bernstein on the subject:

"Erectile dysfunction affects about 60 percent of diabetic males, and is the result of years of elevated blood sugars. It may be defined as an inability to maintain a rigid enough penile erection for adequate time to perform intercourse. It usually results from neuropathy, blocked blood vessels, or both. We can perform simple tests to determine which of these causes predominates. When the problem is principally neurologic, I frequently hear the comment, sometimes after only a few weeks of near-normal blood sugar profiles, “Hey, I’m able to have intercourse again!” Unfortunately, this turnaround only appears to occur if the man was able to attain at least partial erections before. If at the original interview, I’m told, “Doc, it’s been dead for years,” I know recovery is unlikely to occur. If testing shows that the problem was due primarily to blocked blood vessels, I never see improvement. Note, however, that it’s normal to be unable to have erections when blood sugars are too low, say below 80 mg/dl."

He has more to say about diabetic complications and their avoidance / cure here:
http://www.diabetes-book.com/normal-blood-sugars/

I have suffered for years from very cold hands, with my finger nails getting more and more damaged each Winter. At all times of the year my hands looked as if they had been dipped in red ink up to the 2nd finger joints. I worry that by now the tiny blood vessels in my fingers have been irremediably damaged / blocked, but this Summer, after trying to lower my bg by low carb, I think my hands look a lot more normal. Obviously the test will come when temperatures fall in Autumn, but I have at least some hope. I do hope men with ED will see a similar improvement. I send them and their partners my good wishes.
