Apologies to you noblehead, but HLW wasn't the only one to misinterpret your post - I did too!

Example's are telling someone not to take a certain drug without their gp's consent,

I also took it to mean "Don't start taking an unprescribed drug without checking with your GP first" - this I would take as being good advice. It did seem a little confusing when you appeared to complain about such advice being given.

Aspirin, for example, is a drug that can be bought quite easily over the counter and there are some who, after being reading of the benefits in taking half an aspirin daily, might start taking it without being advised to by a medical professional.

Your intended meaning of "Don't stop taking a prescribed drug without discussing it your HCP first, just on the 'advice' of someone on a forum." I can now understand why you would take exception to such a thing being advised.

My thanks to both you, noblehead, and to you, HLW, for helping me to clear up MY confusion.

Regards,
Klair
