Morning folks. No fbs test this morning as I'm rationing my few remaining strips which are also almost out of date. Have put a request in for more but I am only allowed 3x pots of 50 per year on prescription. Update : I have just received my appointment letter for my MRI scan of my spine for next Friday. Not looking forward to the experience but hoping that it may lead to me finally getting some relief! Enjoy your weekend one and all. :)

Would you have to pay for anything over 3 pots of strips? Is that all? Sounds mean to me.

Afternoon all, I hope you’ve all had an awesome week ahead beating your little monster. It won’t diabeat us!! We’re too clever and smart for that.

Fasting for me today was a low 3.7 @ 0648

Had a weird post breakfast high of 9.1 which I put down to a rebound from this morning and I was having a mix on the decks quite early. Excitement of playing my tunes. performing always gives me a spike, need a tiny shot of the rapid stuff for that.

Back to normal now though, well surfing the lows this afternoon which is always annoying, lidl has been conquered. Haha!! Dextros please, And a few sneaky spoonfuls of peanut butter.

Hi Keesha. Yes. Despite having diabetes 2 since at least 2005 I was only prescribed a meter and strips once I was placed on Gliclizide which can and has caused hypos. I was advised I only need to test if I suspect a hypo coming on. I check my fbs to monitor myself and also if I feel unwell or have eaten something that I suspect could have caused a spike. I also have regular checks of my Hba1c as well as my annual diabetic review both of which are due soon. I was doing really well due to low carbing and exercising ( even had my medication reduced due to hypos) but have not been able to exercise since injuring my back in June and have also had several viral infections so expect my results won't be so good this time. :( Thanks for showing an interest. PS : Love your little dog on your avatar.

Good luck on your MRI. I hope all goes welI. Worries and stress are not good for your blood glucose. Walking and some stretching is good exercise for your back but don't overdo it. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do for viral infection, no antibiotics but good rest and please try not to worry. Thanks for compliment on my dog.

Hi all, 5 for me today. Have got engineer coming out today to look at boiler as plumber convinced it's a faulty part that can be replaced under warranty. In the meantime I had a lovely hot shower at a relative's last night and this morning I'm filling the bath with pans/kettles of hot water so the children can be washed - what a fun morning! Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Good morning all. Brilliant weather today -- it's been blue skies and sunny for the last two weeks, too bad it isn't warmer. The temperatures are expected to drop well into the freezing range next week. Brrrrrrrh!

Blood sugars were 5.1 today.

@dogslife -- Good luck on your MRI.

7.8@2200
4.7@0200 had a slice of Brown bread (14g) and 1u of insulin

Long meeting with my Practice Diabetic specialist yesterday. Trying to get a grip on my control in the evening. my numbers are fine up to about 1400, but then gradually rise into the ten in the late evening.

So a change in monitoring:
  • Now working to a range of 6.0 to 8.0 instead of a fixed target of 6.0
  • Increased my insulin to carb ratio for Evening and Night to 1u/3g carb (from a single all day of 41u/4g)
  • To balance this my Basal is being reduced by 2units every 3 days until a balance is found.
  • Putting my carb intake up to 100g from 75g where I have been since Xmas.
  • Aiming for a fasting BG of 6.0
  • Aiming for a Retiring BG of 8.0 to 10.0

In the meantime, I will be testing at 0200 to 0300 every night to check which direction my BGs are going.
North Somerset CCG have still not published their criteria for Freestyle Libre that would give me a complete overnight profile and I can't afford to self-fund :(

On the bright side, my Freestyle Insulinx makes the calculations for insulin with carbs completely automated.

Still want a Libre though, and the practice nurse told me they would prescribe it to every T1 they manage if they could.

Hi dogslife thank you very much for your thoughtfulness, each day gets a little better, and Louie makes it easier has we have him to cuddle but he's not a cuddling dog like Elle he does allow us a cuddle when he wants one. Funny dogs just like people they are all unique in there own way! K
