hi all, I’m still having foot pain unfortunately.

the blood doesn’t seem to be getting to my feet the way it should be, my arms tire very easily now told as well as the constant cramps in my legs & thighs, as a teenager this is really frustrating because I can’t walk far without getting tired and feeling dizzy.

I have now started taking aspirin to see if it helps the blood flow but so far nothing has made the pain subside, it’s really becoming an issue and the doctor basically dismissed my pains as she was more concerned about my high blood pressure (not sure if these things are linked).

I then got the number for a podiatrist from my eye specialist after my annual check up but was told I had to be referred from a doctor when I rang; very very stressed at the moment

also I am going to Greece in a fortnight and very worried these pains are going to ruin my holiday, does anyone know if there is any medication I can take to help these pains or help the blood flow to my feet? Thank you very much in advance for any helpful responses !

Hi @samowen268 ,

Sorry to hear your having foot pain issues.
Was the aspirin directed by your doctor?

Foot wear. Have you the correct shoes for walking? Silly question I know. But some fashion items wear the wearer as opposed to aid the clad..

Check in with your doctor again. Push for a referral even if it's a differen podiatrist recomended by your doc.

The aspirin was not prescribed my doctor, but I felt so desperate I wanted to try it and see if it made a difference as it supposedly helps blood flow, yet I’ve noticed no difference.

I’m going to try, unfortunately it’s very difficult to get appointments with doctors nowadays! it’s deffo not a footwear problem, my legs and feet hurt even when I’m in bed, it’s very persistent ! :(

Thank you, will deffo be pushing for a referral!

If I remember right? You have had retinopathy issues..? (If so? The aspirin will not help.)
You need to consult your doc. & lay off the aspirin if you haven't been prescribed.

My apologies. It is maculopathy. (He runs off to google.)

I have macula oedema. Currently being treated in the right eye.(again.) the first thing asked before every treatment is "do you take aspirin."

How is your D management doing?

****, I didn’t realise aspirin affects vision!

I wish you all the best with that, my maculopathy isn’t progressive enough to need any treatment etc, so I was stunned to find I had all these leg and feet problems because the eye problems are relatively minor! I don’t know what’s going on but I really hope it stops soon, it’s becoming so distressing to wake up and be in pain all the time!!

On the whole my bloods are fab, usually never over 10 apart from the odd one, but considering they were high for the majority of two years anything under 10 is great for me I’ve actually been having more issues with hypos than highs so it’s not too bad, and my overall bloods used to be in the 90’s they were in the 60’s two months after I got my bloods under control so I think they should be much lower than that now, although I’ve not actually had a hba1c recently to know ! :)

I'm not sure about the actual vision. However with the bleeding retinas of retinopathy or in my case the injections to the eye with macula oedema? This could affect the treatment & healing process there after...? Hence why the HCPs ask.

Sounds like you're getting the BGs locked down.

The foot pain needs further investigation.

Be wary of those warmer temps when you go to Greece. You may find it heightens insulin sensitivity in comparison to what we've experienced recently in the UK.

Ah that makes a lot of sense actually!

Don’t worry, I had to adjust my insulin when in Barcelona, I deffo learnt my lesson with that one

It sure does need investigating but I can’t seem to get appointments unfortunately :(
