BTW...I contacted Pharmacy2U and they told me that if I provided a prescription (fat chance!) then they'd dispense.

My current order is on a 2 weeks hiatus since they have run out due to an unprecedented demand. I think supply will be difficult no matter who you get them from.
My son works for Abbots. He told me 3 months ago that the had doubled their lines from 85k to 170k in readiness for the NHS approval,

Does he get them for you at staff rates? (£20 each)

:) He has mentioned it to me. As yet I am not on the Libre but have an appointment on 14 December to trial it. My nephew has just been approved and is awaiting for his prescription (has been told next week)

Hello my daughter has just startee using them and now the new pack is delayed in arriving and she is really upset as it has made a huge difference to her. My question is, is there anywhere I can just buy them - I am trying our local Lloyds and one person is coming back to me whilst other branches had no clue what I was on about. Could you tell me the pharmacy branch of Lloyds which you refer to as wouldn't mind driving i can physically pick them up from somewhere. Even looked into other countries but think you have to get them online there too. I had thought if I got a cheap overnight easyjet type flight it may be worth it to get a pack of 10 and not have this problem going forward. All help appreciated. Thank you.

They are available, in some branches of Boots . Tamworth in Staffordshire, stock them, at £55 per sensor. So I'm presuming lots of Boots around the country now carry them. Good luck

Boots are selling them. I ordered 2 yesterday and picked them up this afternoon. £35 each that will change I’m sure soon. I hope you get some :)

Hi @JoannaK . Welcome to the forum.
Can't help with libre availability but would just like to say , your daughter is very lucky to have a mother so willing to go to such lengths to source some libre's.

Tamworth are obviously cashing in. I went in only a week ago, and was told £55. At £35 I may try self funding.
I live in Warwickshire and the c,c.g here are discussing funding of the Libre, at there next meeting on March 9th.
If anyone lives in warwickshire, you could email them, and give them a nudge, in the right direction.

Hi all

I want to get some info from people, I have been using the freestyle libre system for well over a year and have had positive results throughout and finally got my HBA1C down to 6.3.

I thought it was great when I heard that they would be available on the NHS from 1st November, but now come the headaches. After finally persuading my dr. to prescribe me the sensors, I've now hit a problem where Lloyds pharmacy suppliers. AH pharmasuticles can't supply the sensors.

Has anyone else run in to these problems, and what was the outcome?
Thanks

Rob
Hi I have had trouble getting the libre sensor from Lloyd’s I’ve tried explaining to them that their supplies need to open a account with the company who do the sensor and they just keep saying we use a few suppliers and none of them can get it and yet I have no problem with boots getting it so I will stick with them .

I got mine from TrustMed Pharmacy in the Leicester General Hospital. Apparently all three of the Leicester hospitals sell them. There £42 with the VAT exempt. I've looked around online and I can't see them any cheaper any where else.

Dear All
Every Lloyds, Boots, Sainsburys, Asda Rowlands pharmacy will be able to get Libre as they will have central accounts as they do for all drugs / products.
The problem is some staff are better then others and some are toooooo busy to notice all changes going on - Get them to look up the PIP Code for Libre Sensors may have to include the brand name.

Hello, fairly new to the forum. Diabetic for over 15years but only recently heard about Libre.

Can I just clarify- some GP/postcodes can give you the sensor on prescription and other areas you have to pay? So its postcode lottery?

Anyone in Berkshire managed to get one on prescription?

Thanks in advance x

Search for "Libre policy tracker" on Google.. Or just Libre on this site... It links to a map of what each CCG are saying. J
Perhaps join a Facebook user group (disclaimer: I admin some) . Lots of help and advice.

Thank you. Argh none available in my area :’( So is there any point asking my GP? Or can GP’s be persuaded (is it out of their control)?

What are the names of these facebook groups? I am not very computer savvy! But finding this forum more helpful than any care I have received from specialists in my area :(

It won't let me post link.. the UK group is called UK Freestyle Libre Users (other groups are available!) .

You'd be wasting breath with doctor in almost all cases... But group can help.

Note that the map just shows one point fir each CCG... If it's red it's no, blue is yes, and grey is undecided. String rumours that combined London formulary about to make a decision.
