I have had type 1 diabetes since 2003 and it’s has always been quite badly controlled.
Over the past few years I have been more aware of the affects of poor control and have been trying my hardest to keep it in control.
This morning I had a blood sugar reading of 32.0. This is after fasting for 12 hours and taking my background insulin before bed last night.
I have spent my morning looking into CBD oil as I am willing to try anything to help me get my blood sugars down to my target. Has anyone tried it and if you have, did you notice a difference ?

Have you tried Lamberts Multiguard Control? It is a combination of Vitamins, Minerals & Herbs. Some of the key ingredients which can help insulin sensitivity in some people are Magnesium, Chromium, Zinc, Cinnamon, Vitamin D & Alpha Lipoic Acid.

I took cbd oil but it interfered with my medication. It can work like pineapple juice and stop the liver processing certain medicines which can then poison your body. I was advised to stop taking it and have felt better since but i wasnt told which medicines it intetferes with. I think this can vary from person to person

Hi Chloe, it is possible that you are having lows or hypos during the night. This all depends on the blood sugar before bed. I went through the same thing when my sugars were hitting 30 plus in the morning's. I was advised to up my background insulin which did not help so took this down by 2 units and now have readings of 6.5 to 11 in the morning. Please contact your specialist nurse and let us know how you get on. I also tried cbd oil and did not see any change in my diabetic control but it is good for the mental side of things.

Type 1 Diabetes is recognised as an auto-immune disease. Your own body attacks the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Cannabis extracts can indeed help to regulate your immune system. Whether or not it will help in your case is not clear, but I would suggest that, as CBD extracts (and full-spectrum Cannabis oil) are, for all practical purposes, non-toxic to humans, you have nothing to fear in trying them. Go for a high-strength extract not one from a well-known High Street retailer. There certainly are cases where T1D patients have reported been able to reduce their insulin doses after using Cannabis extracts, although those cases don't meet the "gold standard" of medical research as yet.

If you want to try a full-spectrum extract, that's not quite as simple as the government insists that it's a dangerous drug with no medical applications despite the fact that the US Government holds a patent (number 6630507) titled "Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants" issued on October 7, 2003. The British Government practices similar hypocracy in that British Sugar has a permit to grow 45 acres of Cannabis near King's Lynn that GW Pharmaceuticals uses to produce a full-spectrum extract, despite their claims that Sativex contains only CBD and THC. The UK is the world's largest exporter of Cannabis products, Cocaine, and Heroin, and it's all legal for the companies, but not for individuals.

You'll be told that "more research is needed". But how do you do double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomised, peer-reviewed research on a plant that is prohibited? Anyhow, there's plenty of research that does support the medical uses of Cannabis including using it as a treatment for Auto-Immune diseases that has been done in Israel and other places where Cannabis is legal, even if it's just scratching the surface of the possible applications for the plant.

You'll also be told that Cannabis extracts that contain THC have "side-effects". Yeah, THC makes you high, but the effect passes as you develop a tolerance for THC. Besides, what's so terrible about feeling mild euphoria? It's horrible having T1D and a "side-effect" of feeling good doesn't seem so bad to me. Of course, you'll avoid driving a vehicle or operating machinery while you are high. Common sense applies to Cannabis just the same as it does to the myriad of prescribed drugs that make you incapable of safely driving or operating machinery.

Edit
According to various reports, British Sugar is growing a low-THC (0.2% or lower) high-CBD strain at Wissington for use by GW Pharmaceuticals to make Epidiolex (or, as they put it, "Anti-seizure medicine for children"), so I got that wrong. I have read that the high-THC strain used to make Sativex is grown at the Porton Down government chemical weapons research facility.

I take CBC oil for severe arthritis, and it has been very effective in controlling pain and inflammation. I now use no other pain medication. I also have T2 diabetes, but have not been using cbd long enough to know what effect it has on blood sugar. I have a medical prescription, and buy from a licensed producer with good quality control. I think it is important to get a reliable source because there is no other way to ensure a correct dosage. I’ll post again when I know blood sugar effect.

Not many.
Hi. I bought some cbd oil because I had trapped a nerve in my back and my doctor was reluctant to give me anything other than paracetamol and Acupan. However the oil certainly good for me but I can't say whether it was treatment I received from a 'bone manipulator' or the oil, but I feel much better. Regarding the original comment on morning bg highs, I have had the same problem and could not find any reason. My GP couldn't advise me either. However, by slightly adjusting my nightly dose of Levemir, on a regular basis, my readings are coming down, but I find this has increased from 12 (which was my usual dose) to 17. Readings in the morning are now down to 10 and this week I will be increasing them to 18 units. Hope this helps.

For a lesson in hypocrisy you need to mention the MD of British sugar Paul Kenward, who's married to the MP Victoria (Kenward) Atkins, a junior home office minister with responsibility for drugs policy, and maintains the view there's no therapeutic properties....Whilst granting the grow licence to B S.

I'm a retired nutritionist who specialized in weight loss and type 2 diabetes. I've been on 17 different diabetes drugs. Smoked cannabis lowers blood sugar better than insulin, or any other diabetes drug, including incretins (Bayetta, Victoza, etc.).
CBD doesn't do much but the combination of CBD & THC does. This needs to be studied as Cannabis is the best thing for many diseases. If you are borderline or pre-diabetic, Phd scientists are now saying smoked cannabis reduces risk of type 2 diabetes by 66%. Whole fat dairy reduces risk of type 2 diabetes by up to 60%.
All diabetes drugs pretty much just raise insulin, including metformin. High insulin is the cause of type 2 diabetes and most all chronic diseases we die from. Only thing that lowers insulin is your diet - avoiding high glycemic load carbohydrates. Raising insulin in a diabetic makes insulin resistance worse, not better.

Hi @robertconroy ,

From what i know, Metformin just increases insulin sensitivity & retards glycogen dump by the liver. It does not increase endogenous insulin production.
Someone put me straight if i'm wrong? Metformin can also act as an appetite suppressant too?

CBD Brothers are highly regarded, and I can vouch for Koi CBD products as I use their vape liquid to manage back and knee pain. You can order off their websites.

I have bought expensive CBD oil twice and it didn't lower the sugar levels one bit and also hasn't helped for the nerve pain. My friend in Austria has also sent me the CBD tablets Dronabinol which are prescribed in Austria for chronic pain. All of which didn't have the slightest effect.

I've been on 2 drops a day of full extract (0.2% THC) 1000mg cbd oil for the past 8 weeks, a few things I noticed I feel physically as healthy as i did when I was 30 years old, years before I developed diabetes type 2 and my blood circulation improved a lot, in the past it was near impossible to draw blood from me or even get much for tests or to keep a drip in my arm, my veins arteries were in bad shape, 2 weeks ago for the first time in 8 years blood was drawn with no issue.

It has stopped nerve pain in my hand and my diverticular disease has stayed quiet so far, it would flare up into diverticulitis anytime I drank a beer or had spicy food and i've had no issue eating or drinking those over last 6 weeks, I can't say yet if the cbd oil has helped lower my sugar levels as my Hb1Ac test results at 52 last week was skewed according to my doctor due to extreme circumstances and events in my life over last 6 weeks which led to me eating a hell of lot of carbs, last result was 46 in January so next test in a few months should tell me if the oil is helping with sugar levels.

Also I've been taking a teaspoon of Braggs apple cider vinegar with mother of vinegar before meals for the last few months which is said to lower blood sugar, I found it helps relieve heartburn I get occasionally which is hard to believe considering it's so acidic, but it works for me.

Hello sorry to hear about your difficulties lately I am aware of thcv being an appetite suppressant and fro mm what I've read it helps with blood glucose levels more so than cbd it is only found in certain strains of marajuana more sativa associated if you look at the leafly website and search thcv you could find more information on this cannabis component o think once these compounds are isolated and replicated it could be beneficial to diabetics especially t2 . I take turmeric sour sop and cinnamon verum and from my experience with these herbs believe they help with my blood glucose levels but that doesn't mean it will work for the next person as well and isn't medical advice it's just what I've found in my own research looking for healthy alternatives for controlling glucose levels . Google these products its worth the time . Good luck

Holland and Barret do one that i'm using at the moment, it's seems ok, i have shoulder pain and it has alleviated it, also my bs readings are better but early days to confirm any real benefits. I may be trying another stronger %, H&B is only 5%, there are 15% full spectrum ones out there. Doing some research first always helps.

I take cbd oil and also now add in 2 teaspoons of hemp seed to food daily. Seems to help me with chronic night cramps in my legs. Last few days not had any, definitely helping my bloods (but I have also changed my morning routine as well).
Pain from radiotherapy damage and mastectomy on left side is a lot better. Also dont feel my ulner nerve entrapment each night either. I do take it before I go to bed and when I wake up.

Been using for a while but its taken about 5 weeks for me to realise all the impact it has had on me.

I rhink though that the iron and b12 anaemia and very low levels was crucifying me previously too but I am feeling more balanced with tiredness and have some energy back so hopefully this is due to the iron & b12 being raised...

A mate of mine popped by to see me last night, and he had some oil, I don't know if it was cbd, thc or just hash oil :p but I felt no pain afterwards and overslept by half hour this morning.

But that's smoked on a bong and not eaten :p
