I'm on holiday. It's hot hot hot. Want a change from water to cool me down. Are the above drinks ok? I think I'm ok with both but just checking with the experts!

Let alone being an expert, I am not even an amateur :)

My personal experience: increase the “feel good” hormone serotonin in your system and enjoy it.

Oooh have a great hol.
(the countdown to my next one has begun, so I am very jealous)

As for the diet drinks - yes, try one and see.
I am fortunate that diet drinks don't seem to affect my blood glucose
I am UNfortunate in that they often give me headaches, hyperactivity and insomnia - depending on which sweetener it is.
So I kind of avoid them all, on principle, unless they are in products I already know and am confident about.

I react badly to some artificial sweeteners. I find that Coke Zero and Pepsi Max are less problematic than Diet Coke and Pepsi. It's illogical because they seem to have the same ingredients, but if I am desperate for something other than sparkling mineral water, that's what I choose.

Hi, like you I was recently on a holiday and drank diet coke, no reaction, also when I am at home I sometimes have a coke zero that again doesn't seem to cause any problems.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

We have a self catering cottage just south of the Peak District.
Just us, the dogs and whatever the weather throws at us.
Bliss.
:D

Enjoy your break, I’m ok with sweeteners, except maybe saccharin though I haven’t tested it properly. It’s just I had an elevated blood sugar pre lunch one day when I’d had a glass of no added sugar squash that morning at a friend’s. Not my usual brand so I haven’t had it again since!

@Debandez
Be careful and ask for Coke Zero, I made the mistake of asking for diet coke and I got a low calorie one, not sugar free.

I've tested after 1 hour and it's looking good. 4.3. Happy with that. Will test again at 2 hours. Thanks everyone.

Diet Coke contains caffeine which is mildly addictive. If you have coffee as well just think about how much caffeine you are having.
Also artificial sweeteners can affect our bowel bugs and this lead to cause insulin resistance.
Sorry to spoil your party. I guess there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Oooo we are also in the Peak District for our next holiday. I have spent many happy times there from teenager to pensioner.
Same as you, just us two, the dog and the weather.
