i joined WW in January. Since then I have got to goal weight and lost 2.5 stone. I’m meant to now maintain my weight by am still losing even when eating more foods eg dinner out high point puddings alcohol etc.

Could it be the medication I’m on do you think that is making my continue to lose weight??? I am only on metformin 2x a day. I am LADA diabetes (1.5 adult type 1)

Think I may need to have update with diabetes team as I shouldn’t be losing more weight now. All messages welcome and thankyou

Your profile says type two - and if so then it would be just a matter of adjusting what you are eating - but as you say in the post you are a LADA and losing weight then you need an urgent appointment with your HCP - do you know your usual blood glucose levels and your last Hba1c? Have the blood glucose levels altered significantly in the last few weeks? Can you test for ketones?

Hi @spage, you don;t mention your blood glucose levels or HBA1C. Is there any chance these could be causing weight loss?

Morning. I have just changed my profile. My profile was created when originally diagnosed with type 2 but a month later was told t was LADA.
I haven’t done recent bloods as I only have to check every now and then if feeling low. But I don’t really get low since dropping the gliclazide.
I haven’t had an appointment with a specialist since March. Unfortunately because of my type it’s a time one so will get worse as time goes on so can be difficult to explain. I had a hb1ac in March but they said that was normal it’s as if I don’t have diabetes it’s low. I haven’t only have metformin not on anything else been told I don’t need to watch carb intake or anything just up exercise and lose weight. Which I have done via weight watchers. But now continuing to lose even though I’m meant to maintain

I think it's time for another A1c, your numbers may have deteriorated. I would request an appointment with your Gp/DN and in the meantime test more at home to see what your levels are doing.

Remember that weight maintenance is sometimes more difficult than weight loss but err on the safe side and request a HbA1c.

Unintended weight loss is a symptom of lack of insulin, which would make me suspicious that you are now in need of intervention from the HCPs and a change in medication. The failure to produce your own insulin is usually pretty swift in type ones when it happens, so perhaps you have lost the ability to make your own in a similarly rapid timescale.
