@Silkroad77 Hello and welcome to the Forum and YES! someone else with a sweet tooth ;)

Your old doctor sounded terrible, UGH! no wonder you didn't go back, however I think there are much nicer ones out there now :)

Psychedelic 60's? would that be the likes of early Pink Floyd and alike?

Have a wander over to the Type 1 R Us thread, music often crops up in there and very often goes off track

Right well the problem with me and music-is that I'm very weird, in that I don't really have top 3 or 5 favourite bands-and the ones I do like, I'll usually only have heard 2-3 of their albums-I really have no idea why I am like this.

I think part of it might be that there is a lot of music out there, and I like to (depending on my mood) listen to new songs-or a new band-and then get carried away by Youtube suggestions lol!

So regarding 60's psychedelic I 'like' lol early Pink Floyd, The Ultimate Spinach, Fifty Foot Hose, The Peanut Butter Conspiracy.

Thanks for your reply, and thanks for understanding about the doctor-and yes you are right, there are plenty of new ones around how.

I do not have diabetes
Hello, I joined yesterday.
I am female. 70 years young love golf, art and walking. In 2010 I was diagnosed with hypoglycaemia (2.1 after 2 'sugar' drinks). In 2012 I was diagnosed with Rapid gastric emptying (Dumping). Although I haven't got Diabetes (been tested). I have been on Morphine 3 x daily (prescribed by hospital). Acarbose, Metformin and 400 stomach injections 15 mins before food) but none of these have helped. I am now told there is nothing more that can be done and I must live with my problems! I love playing golf, has anyone any tips for pre golf meal and during 4 hour round. Thanks. Atlantico

Hi, @Atlantico.
And welcome to the forum.
I have Hypoglycaemia, even though I can't advise much, the medication you are on tells me you have other conditions, this will of course skew the normal advice I would give for those with Hypoglycaemia, especially dietary, because nothing is the same, we are all different.
However, the clue is in what is happening when you had your glucose tolerance test, gastric dumping is in itself, hard to stop, the usual advice is to eat very small meals, a couple of bites, every two hours, to stop the hypos developing. Eating good fats for you, will also slow the digestion process. Fast acting foods (sugar, carbs) will just quicken the dumping.
You must try and lower your carb intake.
I have no idea, where your doctor has gotten his ideas on treatment, I would be claiming compensation, it is in my opinion, madness to prescribe acerbose, as this is supposed to suppress the effect of carbs, but it does not effect the trigger which causes the dumping, in fact it exacerbates the situation.
My specialist, took me off metformin immediately, it will help protect your kidneys but not your liver function.
What injections did you have?
Finally for golf, which is really great exercise for those with Hypoglycaemia, as it won't cause a glucose dump. If you have a salad before, with fresh protein, no dressing, and carry some nuts or some other good protein snack for your round.
This will help, keep your blood sugar levels in or around normal levels, which is what you should be aiming for.

Best wishes, and again welcome to the forum.

My name is Cahar
I am a 62 year old female diagnosed type 2 in May 2018.
I am retired and live in Scotland with hubby three dogs and a cat.
We enjoy walking and talking not necessarily at the same time.
I have been reading threads on here for the past few months and have found it really useful.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask a question but am going to anyway.

When diagnosed in May my HBA1C was 88. Cholestrol was 5.8
Today I got the results from bloods taken on Monday. In May the doc wanted me to take metaformin but I refused because I wanted to try and knock it back with diet. I have been pretty strict with myself and today my HBA1C was 41 BUT my cholestrol had gone up to 7 prompting a request for me to make an appointment with the nurse.

I don't understand why the raised cholestrol has happened? Anyone else experienced this also blood pressure which was good in May is now raised.

Thank you so much for your reply. I may has mis-led you as I am not on any meds. The ones I listed were all tried at different times. When none of these worked I was referred to 10 different dieticians in the following years, all with different approaches. I got the feeling they were probably very good at getting fat people slim but just didn't understand reactive hypoglycaemia. One of them had me on so few carbs and no fat replacement that my arm muscles started to atrophy. I am 5'8" and weigh 11 stone so I didn't really need to lose weight.

I think my RA is bit of a mystery as I have not had any stomach surgery.

My vague understanding of a hypo and hyper are readings under 4 and over 7 on my BG meter. Can these vary from person to person? Another question is, can you be carbohydrate intolerant to all carbs?

I look forward to your reply.

Hi again, I'm going to ask @Brunneria to move these couple of posts to the RH forum.
Fire of all I have been where you are now, going from doctor to doctor, dsn to dietician, dietary advice from a dietician is not the best if they don't understand what or why you always feel awful after eating. The standard advice from many a dietary health care advocates, had me gaining weight even though my calorie intake was much lower than what you would call normal. My body just couldn't cope with the high insulin, high insulin resistance and high glucose levels, the fluctuations in blood sugar levels had me constantly struggling with my health and life.
So I talked to my current endocrinologist and between us, we decided to cut my carbs and fruit levels right down, only eating and testing, recording everything that I was eating and trying very low carb alternatives to the dietary advice I had received for over a decade. I found out that the staple so called healthy foods were responsible for the majority of my condition, my symptoms and my poor health.
I am going to say that I'm totally carb intolerant, because that is near impossible, but I have been known to say, that I truly am carb intolerant, because I do eat only as few carbs that are in good fresh meat, protein, vegetables, fish, my average carb intake must be under 20g per day, and that is unintentional. I just don't risk my health on having a treat, when my life and health has been so good in the last few years.
It's by no mean easy and the constant temptation is always there. But having seen the difference it has made and how my health has improved since diagnosis and eating healthy for me. Not what my dieticians, dsns, doctors or even my endocrinologist, who has supported my decisions on how I conduct my eating and how I live my life, and I cannot go back to that hypo hell, I was extremely ill and I didn't know.
Surprisingly, I am 5ft 8", hovering at twelve stone, I would love to lose a couple more stone, but since I was nearly eighteen stone five years ago, I can't complain (much!)
Ok hypos for rh, and I'm quoting from my endocrinologist, is 3.5. But that doesn't mean that anyone else doesn't have a hypo at 3.9. I believe that if you get a reading in the high threes, just eat a couple of bites to stop it going lower. If you go below have a couple of bites of something like plain biscuit or cookies, to nudge your levels up in the normal range, and have a meal fifteen minutes later, and test, test test constantly to give you a clue what is happening through it all. A food diary is a great idea.
A hyper is in my opinion anything above 6, and again it's individual. I know because of my awareness if my blood sugar levels rise of fall. Me and my body knows now that I get higher than six.

Hope that helps

Best wishes

Hello everyone!
My name is Victor Dan, i`m an architect and i have pre-diabetes or hyperinsulinism. I`m really interested in diabetes and hyperinsulinism because it affected my life a lot.My mother has type 1 diabetes with insulin. I`m from Romania and i studied a lot of Michel Montignac`s dieting principles. This helped me understand Insulin Secretion, Diabetes and Hyperinsulinism. I found this forum by accident on google.
My main focuses are diabetes, hyperinsulinism, constipation, obesity and ibs.
