Hi all,

Has anyone gone from multiple injections, to just a two a day regime? Its been suggested I swap since my fast-acting stuff doesn't appear to be having an effect any longer.

Has anyone else had a smiliar experience? How does everyone get on with the two shots a day?

Any advice/comments appreciated....

Hi Blackie22, Iv'e not had the expierience of my insulin not working but I often only do 2 injections of the fast acting insulin as I carb count, so if I have a meal containing no carbs or not enough to do an injection I don't . I sometimes do four, it just depends on what I eat. Have you tried any other insulins as I would have thought they would try and find one that worked first before advising you to cut them down. This only works for me because I low carb, my bGs would be through the roof if I ate more carbs on the low doses that I take

i was on 2 a day for years and years (pork mixatard, then after a couple of years pork mixatard in the morning and lenatard in the evening i was then put on 4 a day novorapid and lantus found it hard to get on with and couldn't get good readings then went back to 2 a day, couldn't handle the strictness of it, then went onto humalog and levemir, then the levemir stopped working and then went onto lantus and humalog which i'm on now and it works good. 2 a day is easy when your a kid and at school and have a strict timetable of what you are gonna eat etc, but having a job and socialising etc its hard 4 a day is a pain but so much easier

It would generally be considered as a backwards step to go back to twice a day insulin. have you tried different fast acting insulins?

If you did go on a mix then the insulins avalaible are the same as you can get seperatley
novomix has novorapid in it
humalog mix has humalog
mixtard has actrapid
