Thank you. That's a relief.Short answer is no. There are cases of misdiagnosis but T2 cannot actually develope into anything else.
Thank you. That's a relief.
This has always puzzled me though Type2 can't turn into T1 why can't a T2's immune system decide to attack his/her or others pancreatic cells like any one else
It's a puzzle does T2 some how give protection from T1 somehow I wonder? If we knew that then we would know what causes T1 and as we do not know exactly what causes a bodys immune system to attack the beta cells specifically...

Type 1’s can’t get type 2. For that their pancreas would have to start producing insulin again. Type 1’s can have insulin resistance. But please don’t call it having type 1 and type 2 as this isn’t true and does nothing to help distinction between the two.
Out of curiosity, how does the dr diagnosis what type of diabetes you have? I only had a blood test to confirm mine. The question was can a person with T2 develop T1 diabetes and the answer is possibly if the immune system attacks the pancreatic beta cells in the type 2 person it would seem so.

It can but very rare as most type2s in past ended up on insulin. This has always puzzled me though Type2 can't turn into T1 why can't a T2's immune system decide to attack his/her or others pancreatic cells like any one else
The simple answer is that many GPs just guess to avoid the cost of doing the tests; I'm one of those 'guesses'Out of curiosity, how does the dr diagnosis what type of diabetes you have? I only had a blood test to confirm mine.
And obviously they guessed wrong misdiagnoses does happen often. my doctor symply said no more blood tests for you john it was about cost he was wrong in that as my diabetes specialist ordered antibody test before declaring me type 3E drug induced. The simple answer is that many GPs just guess to avoid the cost of doing the tests; I'm one of those 'guesses'
