Yes, but several million people died in the process.
Sally

War, yes. so many died, but thousands and thousands of service men and women fought to save our country from invasion, my dad was one of them. We are in a battle and thank god, not a war.

Yes they did, fighting for their country, so not the same thing at all, but those at home got on with things, pulled together, and pulled through together. That is what we should be doing now.

I am frankly shocked that anyone thinks for one second that people will die due to lack a insulin, just goes to show how effective the nonsense we are being fed has been. lets try to get a grip, if we are so desperately in trouble because we are leaving the union, we should never have joined in the first place so getting out now must be a good thing in the long term, we should be able to stand on our own two feet.

Everything is fine, its all just something for the tv reporters to talk about, no one will die, no one taking insulin will run out unless every one starts panic prescriptioning, this is all just scaremongering so the remain campaign get a second vote. if the government are stock piling then we don't have to, they are either doing it to save money when things get more expensive or doing it to show the EU we are prepared to walk away, either way its not armageddon.

I voted remain by the way

voting is a dangerous thing, but not being able to vote, and replacing that option with technocratic, or autocratic rule, is even more dangerous.

Having recently visited a country which is a dictatorship, I am not so sure. The people were lovely and helpful without being pushy. They appear to be happy with what they have rather than thinking they have the 'rights' to have anything. Not sure this democratic country with everyone thinking they want more of everything is any better than their undemocratic one. There's still a possibility of lunatics running the asylum with or without a vote. We only have to look at USA to see that...

Just saying ;)... not criticising your post which I liked! :)

Interesting. Though if you didn't know this country, and you visited the UK, in most tourist places the people you met would be nice, and polite. It's only because we know this country better, that we know about all the not so attractive bits.

I have never been treated as well in this or any other country. It was such a surprise to me, I have never experienced anything like it before, such respect. It really made us think about what is important in life.

Anyhow, sorry for thread derailing ...I'll shut up now.:)

Since we sometimes have shortages of other drugs anyway, regardless of Brexit, I would say yes, insulin may sometimes be in short supply for a brief period of time, so keeping a couple of weeks supply in hand would be sensible. Will anyone die because of it? No. Will the papers complain that diabetics are costing the nation more money since Brexit? Of course they will. Will they care that T1 is an autoimmune disease? Nope, not all, sympathy/empathy doesn't sell papers.

Since it appears that the UK government don't know what they are doing, I think there could be inital inadvertent supply issues. I will be making sure that I have some insulin in my fridge and my cupboards have plenty of food in them. If there's no problem that's fine, I'll just use up what I have. Even if there are no supply issues most of the people who pick, pack and deliver food and probably medicine in our country are from elsewhere in Europe, if they all leave we are truly stuffed.

I’m scared, I’m only 19 and my life is at risk because of some vote. What do you think will happen post-Brexit? Will we run out of supplies?

SLY news, I take anything they say with a large pinch of salt! Remainer propagandists like most of the main stream media...
Sky's majority shareholder is Rupert Murdoch, who supports Brexit. He also owns the Sun which supports Brexit.
He also owns the Fox TV channel in the US which supports Trump.
He buys these news outlets to influence public opinion.

no we won't run out, if anyone thinks that the EU and our own country would put millions of lives out / damage peoples health then I would suggest yoyu see a specialist

Since insulin isn't made in the UK and needs a temperature controlled environment for transport and storage, if we leave the EU without adequate border control regulations in place, we will indeed have shortages. I don't particularly want to have to use insulin that's not been transported or stored properly. At best it will be useless and at worst?

What's the point in claiming everything will be fine, when if you have any common sense you will realise that nothing has been fine up until this point. Why should we think that the government will prioritise our treatment? We're only a drain on the NHS anyway, I dare say the fewer of us left the better, in the eyes of some..............this government have proven time and time again that they don't care about anyone in need.

I too would like many things Made in England again and /or from scratch.
Why not?

Mainly because a) we have no facilities anymore, our manufacturing base is pretty much nil, and b) it takes a long while to recruit suitably educated and qualified staff. We are struggling to find people with the correct skills to work in our present manufacturing industries. We've had many years of tampering with education in schools and universities, which has diluted the worth of any UK qualification these days.

My local area has been turned down several times recently because of b).

We can't change these things overnight, it is likely to be a generation at least, before any tangible change will be seen from any 'improvements' after Brexit.

I don't think I can wait that long for a life sasving drug........

I'm sure
Thanks Prem, I am having trouble loading the video, but will try again a little later. Theresa May can't guarantee medical supplies, because she just doesn't know (but MP's are cagey enough at the best of times)

I'm sure she'll guarantee her own, though!

Remainers should think twice before trying to scare the public into supporting their point of view. Trade with countries in the EU will continue after Brexit as it does today with China & the last time I checked, China isn't in the European Union.
