@miffli along with everything else, it looks like you have some dawn phenomenon which raises blood sugars in the early morning. Your insulin won't help with this as only a quick acting one can correct high blood sugars quickly.

One thing to remember about long acting insulin is that it can take 2 or 3 days for a change in dose to take effect.

I think I read on another post that you've had pus from your gums. Were you given antibiotics for that? If there's still infection there, it will cause high blood sugars.

You said the doctor from hospital did not reply to your e-mail, so why not send another message, reminding them of what's been going on, and what your blood sugars are doing now? Perhaps you should be seen at the hospital clinic rather than at your GP's clinic . . . Suggest that.

Not quite I'm afraid.. double cream has 2.6g of carb per 100ml lactofree milk 2.8g per 100 ml.
Of course you use less cream so it has less impact but not quite "carb free".
The cream I get here has only 0.4g/T (the carton says <1g/T). I agree, "carb free" may have been an over statement. Seems 100ml would be a lot of cream or milk for coffee or tea. Am I wrong?

No you are correct and its way lower carb than the lactofree milk because you use less of it but it's just not carb free I'm afraid ...otherwise I would be zero carb completely rather than the 5-10g a day I have.

I do not think I have been advised how everything works, example, this morning I was up at 5.45 am, checked my bloods at 6.am and was 11.4 mmol, i had one strong cup of tea, that is where you show it the carton and put in barely any milk- lactose free of course, I took my jab 14 units at 7am and at 9.10 am checked them again only I had a funny feeling and was 11.6mmol.. I understand that the insulin I am taking is slow acting/release but I thought it gave you and immediate boost and then slowly released for something like 4 hours or so?

Anyway, I just thought I would share that, i feel like i have not eaten for a week and have like hunger shakes or feel jittery, going to have my HB eggs and such shortly but I can only go up higher- i do not like eating when i am high.

Keep to low carb meals when you're high. A decent amount of good fat helps too. If you're just on long acting insulin, it is just that, it doesn't give you a 'quick boost'. Often they can last up to 24 hours, but most are about 18-22.
You may also have a degree of Dawn Phenomenon, where the liver anticipates the body's need for sugar as you rise, so that also leads to raised morning glucose.

The pyorrhea will have a very detrimental effect until its completely sorted out.

Ask what treatment is expected as part of the chemo. If steroids are part of it, they will raise sugars as well. If you aren't already, ask to be referred urgently to your local hospital's Diabetes Specialist Nurses. You need more detailed advice to manage your sugars at the moment.

You mentioned at the bottom of one of your posts fleetingly about a mask? Do you wear a mask for sleep apnoea? If you suffer from this, it will also affect your blood sugars.

You have too many conditions going on for your GP surgery to manage, these people aren't the experts we are led to believe. If it was me, I'd be pushing for a referral to my local hospital Diabetes Specialist Nurse Team/Endocrinologist. You need more help with this, especially with treatment starting for NH Lymphoma, which will probably again knock your control sideways. Please push for this as a matter of urgency.

No, they made a mask for radiotherapy which was put back another week and now starts tomorrow, Monday 29th October, that is 20mins to half an hour for 5 days for three weeks. My dentist appointment was put to the end of November, one month delay there too, i have upped my dosage myself from 10 units every morning to 20 in the morning and 20 later afternoon and I am still waking up on 15mmol +

Strangely enough though I was told to up it by 2 units per day which I done, so when i went from 10-12 -14-16 and so forth only on one occasion did they go down on an afternoon to 8.4mmol- though I had not eaten all day lol, if i eat even say 2 hard boiled eggs with some tomatoes and olives for breakfast (yuk) but usually the afternoon reading is 14mmol upwards.

on my chart it looks like i up my dosage by 2mmol and my readings also go up all week from afternoon readings 8.4mmol to 14.4mmol and mornings range between 12.6mmol and 17.5mmol

Hi. I’m new to the forums. Iv just posted I’m having similar issues. Iv been on Keto for 3 months. Started great with lowering sugars and weight loss. Over the last few weeks mine have spike to double figures and I don’t know why. It’s really worrying me after everything was going so well

Does anybody know, could having Lymphoma affect my bloods and such? I read somewhere that the Pyorrhea can and I am finding it so upsetting that they are taking so long to help me with it, the gp shall not help because it is dental, my local dentist leaves a lot to be desired and has not helped so i am waiting to see the NHS dentist, i think it is disgusting that i am left like this not only having anxiety but also

Hi, my only thoughts on this is that the two milks when compared side by side are negligible and these are calculated at 100ml, now considering I have maybe 4 mugs in a day and like i said I do have both coffee and tea dark, 100ml is quite a lot, I would not think I use 50ml in an entire day.

Yes Lymphoma can alter bgs. Your diabetic team needs to assist you, throughout.

Sorry to barge in on the thread. This interests me as I'm pretty sure father has this (and Insulin-controlled T2). Any more details?

Only anecdotal from other threads. It's well known that if you sleep poorly, it can adversely affect blood glucose levels

Lol Zils, I am certainly sleeping poorly right now, lots here and there, restless, anxiety, tonight i was stupid, a friend I have not seen in years visited, he brought a curry.. 2 hours after and i'm 28mmol fgs... i had forgotten my jab but then i am forgetting lots of things this last 3 weeks, i have two more days left with radiotherapy and then i'm done..hopefully, then my teeth and then tummy..

The diabetic team increased my insulin from a self administered rise from 10 units a day to 40 a day, now they agree'd on 50 per day, i am sitting here on my third litre of water in under 20 minutes.. i shall get those sugars down before i sleep!!!

oh, and Daisy, I said that to the diabetic team yesterday and asked why are they paying their nutritionist to tell me I really am ok to eat porridge now I am on insulin when you and I know I am certainly not! I find this difficult to believe that she is telling all her diabetic patients the same MIS-information..excuse, i get so angry when I am high!
