I certainly will mate. Thank you... Anyway today the mornings blood sugars at about 10.30 came out at 5.9 and we had no lunch today, but this evening after we ate dinner 4 hours earlier, at bed time...12.30 am they were 5.8 so back to about where i want to try and keep them, under 6 if i can. And yesterday was a fasting day from last nights dinner until tonights, so about 24 hours... so am going to bed happy as I can eat breakfast and dinner later today..Yay!!:) Thanks again for the help..

Ah, just noticed this post, those are great results!

Hi folks,
Thought i had better update this as i haven't in a while now.

After starting this on the 22nd of November, I have been doing a Keto diet and some fasting, (up to 48 hours), and so far things seem to be going along quite well for me. I am basically doing 20/4 so a 20 hour fast 4 hour eating window, and one 48 hours fast so far, and actually found the 48 hour fast easy to do, so will be trying a longer fast before long. I have settled on the 20/4 fast now, as my norm, with the occasional longer fast thrown in randomly to stop my body getting used to a routine.
My blood sugars seem to have fairly well stabilized at around the 5.3/5.6 mark, so quite happy about that.. still only about 3 weeks or so into this, so plenty of time to get that figure down a little yet, but at least I am no longer having spikes in my sugars when testing, and have now cut my testing down to just 4 a day to keep track on them , while i try and lose weight.
When i weighed myself this morning my weight was exactly sat on 17 stone, so its still going down a tad, some weeks more than others. so a loss of 19 lbs since starting this Going to stop weighing myself every blooming day and just stick to one day a week, as its disappointing when the weight seems to go up overnight for no good reason that i can see. Maybe that will let me see the trend and not the weight jumps all the time.
Still off all medication, and actually feel a whole lot better for it. About the meds i was on, i have been checking the side effects of some of them and a couple of them caught my eye, by saying that the medication can cause a rise in blood sugars! Why would a doctor prescribe meds that could actually increase blood sugar levels to a type2 diabetic?? I have my HBA1C test in a month or so's time, so you can be sure its a question i will be asking him.
Anyway thats it for now...weight going down ok, but its still got a whole lot more to go,.. set myself a target weight of 12 stone to try and obtain, and will get there eventually..and i reckon that as i lose weight that should assist with getting my sugars a little lower.
Thanks for the interest and the advice and help, its really appreciated, so Thank You. Right back to my fast!
Cheers for now.

You deserve a medal sir... so in 3 weeks you are off all medication for T2 (including stopping insulin) and have lost over a stone in weight!
Long may you continue with such successes.

Thank you mate....best thing i ever did was stop the medication and grab hold of my life..feeling great on this keto and fasting diet, so will continue this way of eating etc. at least until i get down to my target of 12 stones. Lots of great information available to make it easy for us...and that chap in your profile picture with all the super information he puts out has helped immensely!...:)

Big well done to you Mr Evans. A victory of logic and common sense over our rule following habit of following ‘professionals’ for no other reason than their having some qualification. Your results are what you I and others expected coupled with your determination!

Thank you mate....the "Professionals" i.e. my diabetes nurse, , sorry to say, but she had no idea at all... "Cant drop your insulin dose.." she told me, what a load of rubbish (could use a more apt way of telling it, but i am too polite!!) B/sugars this morning are 5.3 with no medication at all, and like most folk, they are a little higher in the mornings, so now i know this is working for me, there is no way i will be going back to taking insulin and tablets. Actually looking forward to the discussion with my doctor, after my annual sugar test in a few weeks time. :)

Good luck with the doctor conversation.. if they're anything like mine it will be all "oh well done but most of our patients couldn't do that".. My response was "as most of your patients aren't ever told about it how could they?"

Exactly mate...I had no idea at all until i found something on-line about reversing Diabetes, from Dr Fung, (entirely by accident as i wasn't searching for it). the dietitian, and diabetes specialist nurse never even mentioned weight...and low carb dieting,...and me being an old thick Welsh feller, had no idea at all... Why don't they tell folks, that there is another way?

Customer retention... stupidity.. or ignorance..? the latter must be getting a bit old now as there is so much noise about low carb in the world but you'd be amazed at how many Diabetes Specialist GP's are out of touch with current thinking. Unfortunately the idiots at Public Health England, DiabetesUK and the British Dietetics Association refuse to believe the thousands of us who are having great success. Its a sad state of affairs...

This is a great story but sadly, so typical. I don’t know of any other walk of life that is so rubbish and often totally uninformed and unprofessional as GPs when it comes to diabetes.

And the Doctor conversation, I doubt he’ll accept you’ve done well, mainly because you ignored his worse than useless treatment plan.

I have this horrible feeling that they'll tell you to go back to eating carbs so you can carry on with the insulin.. because that's their preferred treatment...

Yes, its shameful really isn't it? You would think that so called specialists would try and look at all the options for helping out their patients...but as you say, if all type 2 diabetics, sorted out their problems with some fasting and a low carb diet, what need would we have for them? and yes i think my conversation with my doctor, wont go especially well :banghead: but we will have it anyway..

Then i hope he is ready to be told to Sod Off...and that he needs to get up to date with treatments that are alternative to a lifetime of insulin injections, and the inevitable rise in weight, and all the other complications that Diabetes brings over the years..Some of them really don't have a clue do they?

Just a small update..I am 48 hours into my latest fast at the moment...as i decided to try and break my weigh loss stall with a bit more fasting.. have been stuck on 17 stone for a while now, so stopped weighing myself for a while, and this morning i finally seem to have started losing a bit again, as i am now 16 stone 12 lbs. lot better than the 18 st 5lbs i started with...This one was planned to be a 48 hour fast, and is due to finish in a few minutes time... but I think i may carry on with it for a while longer as i feel good with it.
Blood sugars have actually gone up when i measured them first thing this morning and were sat on 6.2 which is disappointing, as they were 5.2 last night.....but i am hoping that it may be the Dawn Effect and that they will come down a little later on.
Anyway, pleased with the way things are going, and will carry on with what i am doing now as it seems to be working for me so far.

Well done, that’s good progress. I wouldn’t get too hung up on sugar levels if they’re within 1 of where you want them and wayyyy below where they were. The vagaries of your body, dawn phenomenon, differing test results, it’s averages that matter.

Thanks mate...they are certainly below what they were!!.:) so not too bothered about the odd blip in them... Had to stop my fast at just over 50 hours as i was getting a tad dizzy...shame, as i was feeling great apart from that and wanted to continue.. but there we are...all over now until later this week when i will start another one..

Just another quick update... It was one month yesterday that i started this effort, stopped all my medication and weighed in at 18 stone 5 lbs...and i thought that i would be still stuck on the 17 stone mark as i have been for the past week or so after my weight went back up to 17 stone from the 16st 12 i was on last week.. . .. but this morning i seem to have dropped to 16st 10 lbs, so a 4 lb drop since i last weighed myself.

Not too bad as i thought i was stuck on the 17 stone mark. My blood sugars are now down to around the 5.9 or lower in the mornings and usually around the 5.2 / 5.4 before i go to bed, so they seem fairly good now anyway.

When i look back at my records of what they were, anywhere from 8 to 12 at every test, or more most days, i reckon its a good drop in them. So a total loss of 23 lbs if my maths are right!!.. happy with the progress now, and hope i don't go back up in weight!!

So happy that i decided to start this diet as if i had listened to the "experts" i.e. the diabetes nurse...i would be on an ever increasing dose of insulin and metaformin..and still at 18.5 stone or probably more by now.

Sir if anyone deserves a "Superstar" moniker it's you.
Great results and I'm still stunned that after coming off insulin and metformin you now have lower blood sugars than when you were on the meds. I'm so pleased for you. Well done.
