Been type 1 for 39 years. Taken off pump as too many hypos. Allergic to lots of different insulins. Now on humalog and insuman basal. Blood sugars random between 1.8 and 33! No pattern. Changed injection sites, now in bum!! Still no better.

Anyone in same boat???

Hello, what are your units? When do you inject? Do you inject humalog and insuman in the same spot? How is your activity level day to day? Are you under stress? Is it humid and hot where you live?

Hi @Lynn-marie ,

Welcome to the forum.

What form of allergy did you have wifh the previous insulins?

When did the BG swings first occur?

Has this allergy to insulin been right from the beginning, or have you developed it over a period of time? Also, what do your meals consist of and what are the conditions like where you live?

It wouldn't be insulin resistance as you've been dealing with hypos. This could neither be, a possible insulin build up, that has been clogged or stuck due to repeated injections on the same site - as you have changed you insulin site.

If this condition keeps worsening, you could possibly look at the insulin pump option again!! What have your doctors said about this allergy and irregular patterns?
