No 1 I presume........ Great name BTW......... :D I remember a fantastic poster who used the same name.

Read the link before BTW........

A question :
Why is it that there are supposedly intelligent people out there who simply cannot understand that you can eat a low fat diet without any problems, especially if you low carb at the same time. They seem to make many assumptions about carb intake, "Oh they are all high carbs !" What a load of absolute rubbish they spout. I eat low carb and LOW FAT with excellent results. I know many other members of this forum who do too.......are they all mentally unstable ? Mmmmh ?

I find the title and assumptions of this thread offensive........are those of us that do stick to low fat for whatever reason all 'mentally more unstable ?' That is the implication here .........wonderful first post, subtle as a housebrick !

"Low fat means high carb". Doh......No. Having seen the blog in question and some of the other topics, I don't think I'll bother to read it.

Great introduction BTW Milly.

In a high-carb diet, it is not necessarily the lack of fats, but what the unconverted gluten proteins are doing to the brain. Glutenin and gluteomorphin are excitotoxins. These proteins are a by-product of the bad commercial practices of putting improperly prepared grains through a very fast system to maximise profit.

Whereas maybe 100 years ago all bread was made the traditional way, and cakes were an occasional treat, nowadays a loaf of bread can go in one end and out the other within 40 minutes. People are also consuming a whole heap of wheat-based foods from grains that have not been prepared before use.

The pre-soaking of the grains and long 'proving' of traditionally made bread was done for a very good reason - to make sure that the gluten was converted into substances that the body can use. Proving needs to be done for a minimum of 6 hours to ensure the complete conversion. It also ensures that the phytic acid - the natural nutrient-blockers in the grain is neutralised before consumption. If the phytic acid, oxalic acid or salicylic acid is still present, any nutritional value in the food will not be absorbed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antinutrient

The action of the yeast on the dough is a fermentation. Fermentation helps to break down a lot of unwanted compounds in food and increase nutrients, which is why so many tradional diets included at least one kind of fermented food in their regime.

The bread may not taste any different, but how it works in the body is a whole heap different. The 'excitotoxins' damage nerve impulses in the body and other processes - including maybe our ability to metabolise carbohydrates......

It is thought that a ketogenic diet helps those with epilepsy, schizophrenia, 'gluten' ataxia et al, because of the fats, and maybe it does, but personally I believe it is because a low-carb ketogenic diet cuts out the toxic improperly prepared grain foods that trigger the seizures, nerve damage and mental abberations.

Although I am low-carb, because it is the only way my body can function effectively at the moment, I am not anti-carb. What I am violently anti, is the horrible factory-made highly, and rapidly-processed grain foods that are damaging us without our knowledge or awareness.

I think that the first word is missing in the title, "Do................. and can you reference what has been said many times before?

Anyone can be mentally ill regardless of their diet. If this had been a reputable site that this dross was coming from it might have had more impact. Low carbers eating high fat don't escape mental illness.
Some mental illnesses are genetic, some stress related, some are caused by trauma, some by excessive alcohol, some from drug abuse and some have no known precipitating factors.

Well said catherinecherub. How anybody can read and believe all this rubbish from some of these one sided blogs is farcical. Thank goodness this forum doesn't go in for pushing such one sided propaganda. We have seen enough of those places.......

Yeah, thanks for nothing but I can assure that I am mentally very stable and very aware when I am being insulted for the diet I chose to eat.

Do you really think that we are so naive that we didn't realise that this was another mission that you were sent on? Foot soldier springs to mind. People who have been banned from here try their upmost to disrupt this forum from afar, always have and always will. Your intention was very clear from your post. Makes you wonder who is really mentally unstable.

The difference between your Master and this forum is that nobody here is condemned for the way they manage their diabetes and there is support here for everyone.

Mod edit: Off-topic

So your sole intention of joining this forum was to win a silly and infantile bet and not intended to help anyone but to laugh at those of us who are suffering with a life threatening disease.

I think that ALL members of this forum will agree that you have proven exactly the opposite of what your intention was in the first place. Very vindictive and infantile is the politest way I can describe it.

If eating loads of fats is going to make me anything like you than I gladly will eat a whole lot less and stay this side of the fence because the side you are on is not anywhere near to being greener....more like a dirty old wrinkled yellowing (fat) mash if you ask me.

EDITED TO ADD THE FOLLOWING:

If your intentions was to deliberately make people hate fats and stay of them so that you can live longer than us then you have fulfilled your mission and can happily return to your headquarters and report a great success (or is it a failure because you didn't manage to "fight the good fight and spread the word"?.......I think I'll let people decide for themselves whatever they think you have accomplished.)

Hi Ali, I sure hope that you are not associated and are not involved in "milimols" vindictive and infantile bet to prove that those of us who follow a low-fat diet are "mentally more unstable" :?: :?:

But seeing that you mentioned "mental aberration" in your above post I can only assume that you are involved (to some degree anyway) and if I am wrong then I would ask that you protest against what milimoll has done here and distance yourself from her.

Rude people! Not being able to do the things I want to do.
To be perfectly honest I can see no further value in answering these threads anymore. Their avowed intention was to upset and annoy members here and disrupt what we do best, supporting each other whatever method we choose to use. I suggest we let these threads die and let's go back to the high standards we are used to.

Hi, normally I would agree with you 100% but in this case I think that we should make everyone aware of what this person tried to, everyone needs to know what's going on. especially Admin and the Mod/s and ban this person so that she does not have the chance to disrupt the high standards that we are used to.

It is laughable, a great pity and upsetting to see people like milimol go down to the level she has and proves their belief that they are the "CHOSEN ONES". I am glad that most (if not all) of us are not chosen to suffer the same fate.
