sorry if you think this is a stupid question, I was only diagnosed with type 2 just over a month ago, I’m 23 years old.
I’d say for the last 4 weeks my blood sugars in the morning are between a 4.2 and 5.1.
It’s usually the same before meals.
And after meals it’s usually never above a 7.2, ususally around 6.9 or less after an hour and by two hours it’s gone back in the 5s.
I havnt gone low carb or Keto, I follow slimming world to lose weight so do eat rice pasta and potatoes (wholewheat versions), I don’t have huge portion ususally no more than a cup serving, which my blood sugars don’t spike too high.
Yesterday for example I had Wholemeal pizza with veggies on, some homemade overn chips and salad, after an hour it went up to 5.6 then 2 hours a 6, then by the 3rd hour it’s was back to a 4.9.
I’m often getting confused why my body is processing carbs okay compared to some on here, like I read someone only had a table spoon of risotto and their sugars went up to a 9.
Does this mean I maybe havnt caused as much damage and could have a better chance of fixing it better?
I have my first blood test on June since diagnosis and I am sure it’s going to be so much lower than my previous numbers, my numbers have been non diabetic levels.
I do have a lot of weight to lose still but already lost 1.5 stone, I have another 6.5 to lose but I’m happy with the amount of progress I’ve achieved in such a short space of time
